Half Man,
Your right, the Dallas defense should be awesome this year. I agree with you completely about the QB play being key for Dallas. I’d never thought about it before, but I definately see the Dallas/Bears comparison.
Who’s your favorite team?

TomSeptember 7, 2002 at 5:13 pm #81720I’m a Bears fan as well, Tom. However, I do like the packer 2nd best in the NFC, much to the chagrin of my Bears friends.
Like the Steelers in the AFC, followed by the Raiders. As you can see, these four teams probably have the reps for being the meanest and nastiest players over the long haul of their existence.
But BEARS are my favs overall since that is my home team.
Not sure about the AFC North being weaker than the West. Think the Ohio teams and the Ravens have something to offer, but I agree the AFC east should be the scrapiest.

September 7, 2002 at 5:28 pm #81722I know, I was just joking back Choosing the Browns last? I dunno, they should be pretty good this year. I don’t really think there are any real weak divisions anymore. Especially with there being no teams that are dominant. NFC East has no one that can score points, but they all have a good D. Watch out for the Pats, the are for real…

September 7, 2002 at 6:39 pm #81723Tom, I’ve had tears in my eyes more than a few times about Sweetness. Before I was able to get nfl ticket I would do an internet chat room thing on game day. Play calling done by drunken BEARS fans with cameras on themselves…got scary at times thou. Saw a grown man cry when we beat the pack with a f/g on the anniversary of Walters death
Halfman I know one other person who likes both the pack and the Mighty BEARS…her first team is of course the BEARS. I agree with you about them being in decline though, favre goes out and they’re dead on the field. They lost a lot of good players last year, not sure Terry Glenn is the answer, bit of a head case not to mention the injury thing. Detroit, not too worried about them, some BEAR fans were talking about how we should pick up mcmahon. Rumor is he has an attitude that might put a certain cade mcclown to shame…how can that possibly be true Vikings with that whole moss ratio thing…I remember a pout ratio more than anything else about moss last year. I’m still shocked The BEARS signed our OC shoop for 3 years Makes no sense at all!!!
Tom I agree Dallas should be cool this year, friend of mine at work called me at 0630 this am, he’s thrilled to death with their prospects this year. Shame about the owner though, we have similar concerns with the mccaskeys
Nobody believes in The BEARS, cool with me
I like Cleveland, picked them to win tomorrow but am going to change that pick cause Couch isn’t playing in the 1st game. I’m looking forward to seeing Ed McCafferey return to the field for the Broncos, hoping he can pick up where he left off. Wicked injury though, broken leg in two places, held on to the ball thru all the pain…gotta love that!!! Nice to have Shannon back with the broncos as well, such a shame about Terrell Davis though. Loved watching that guy run!!! Not a big fan of Spurrier either, they certainly don’t have any qb action…two ex BEARS, noodle arm matthews and wurfell (?sp) Good D though so you never know.
I am SOOOO ready for some football!!!
Allison
ps picked the Steelers over the Patriots on Monday…they better come thru for me

Valentine,
Howie Longs Hall of Fame sppech was great. He said that baseball may be America’s pastime, but football is America’s passion. I completely agree with Long. Americans live and die football.
The Bear fans are extremely passionate. I had a few threaten me with violence when I made my road trip to Soldier Field to watch the Bears/Cowboy game, wearing a Cowboy jersey. Most of the fans were great though.
I think your Bears can definately win the division, but not having the Soldier Field advantage will hurt. I think Chandler is actually a decent back up. The Pack definately could struggle with all the new receivers. I hope the Bears win the division becasuse I hate the Packers!
Long Distance,
I think the Browns would have won about 8 games, but Couch is out for week one, and they lost thier best defensive player (Jamir Miller) for the year, so they are screwed. I think the Steelers are going to win that division easily. I see the Bengals, Ravens, and Browns as good teams next year. I think the division is week this year, because barring miracles, the AFC North will only send one team to the playoffs.

TomSeptember 8, 2002 at 7:03 pm #81725That game just about killed me but…WE WON!!!!!!!!!
We sucked for almost three quarters but pulled it out in the end…shocking Mike Brown is my hero, David Terrell shut up and caught the ball…shoop figured out he needed to throw the ball in the fourth quarter, almost too late but Hey!118 degrees on the field, not pleased with the flubber type turf, guys were slipping all over the place. RW out with a knee injury Pout ratio was in effect at the end of the game…although I was pouting for all of the 1st half
Good luck to Tom and a certaian Steelers fan…
Allison
ps Tom I didn’t mean you didn’t believe, all off season all I’ve been reading are articles dissin the BEARS Definitely relate to your feelings about the pack

September 9, 2002 at 7:59 pm #81727Nope, GO STEELERS GO! Big Monday night match-up. Steelers are 2 1/2 point favorites AT New England. If I was a betting man I wouldn’t touch that one. ‘Skins looked good, Rams did not. ‘Canes look AWESOME again in the college ranks.
