Raiders versus Tampa
Gruden gets to try & stick it to Al Davis…I don’t know who will win that one. Hoping its the Raiders cause tampa….

Can’t say I’d want a Raider game that close to me. Controversy in a lot of places about teams threatening to move if States don’t help out with new stadiums. Twins owner in Minnesota is always threatening that. Couple NHL teams recently went broke
New Soldier Field in Chicago has lots of law suits about how the funding is set up, then the teams have the nerve to start charging personal seat license fees…up to thousands of dollars a seat to have the thrill of paying for season tickets on top of it all But then all professional sports have that same problem, I couldn’t believe Baseball players were gonna go out on strike earlier in the season Chargers do suck, wicked deal they have on the unsold tickets… Professional Sports should not be put before public programs ever in my opinion, and I don’t mean just football Superbowl pick…Raiders :aliensmile:
I am with Buck here as well on funding. The original teams in the NFL with private clubs who proxied support from their connections to the wealthy and to government, but still the clubs were private. If we are going to publically fund teams via tax revenue, I say hit them with excise that goes right back to the coffers for education, transportation, and utilties. I do not see the monies spent on sports teams bringing back as much revenue as going out. We have a big casino debate in my area that has gone on for years about how much benefit is given to communities that act as hosts. Like the sports teams, the evidence
does not meet the promises made. I like ultimatiums given to the teams and casinos that they must outline a plan of community benefit and if they do not deliver, funding is cut, and penalties are levied.Raiders here as well.

Taxed 14% on everything I buy, personal tax is horrifying on top of that, huge gasoline tax that is supposed to go to infrastructure…yeah right. Casinos are government funded/run, along with many lotteries. That cash is used for health care, or at least a portion of it, mostly used as a slush fund for various pet projects for mp’s that get out of control. Gun Control Registry recently started, was to be a one million dollar program, current bill after one year…over a billion:shock: I agree Chicago lending assistance in the 400 Million buck range to help build the new Soldier Field is insane, San Diegos deal with The Chargers is ridiculous, they’ve received over 31 million as payment for unused tickets, recently our city gave about 15 million to a private company building a sports complex downtown…free and clear no questions asked I’m just saying while I agree with you completely about the lameness of handing out tax dollars to professional sports teams, local governments need to be held accountable for the decisions they make related to how they dole out our hard earned cash on a number of levels Go RAIDERS Go
The Superbowl is the only (American) footballgame shown on Dutch TV each year, den Buck managed to sit through the first quarter (which lasted for about 45 minutes, 30 of which were commercials…
), after which the score was 3-3 (although dB doesn’t exactly understand why…

Jerry Angelo, the owner of the Bears, is on the right track it seems. He is balking against drafting another QB and leaning more toward shoring up the defensive line. Looking at either drafting Terrel Suggs or Jimmy Kennedy.

Worried he’s gonna pick up a lame fa qb…kordell stewart, heard shaun kings name mentioned as well Big Cats probably going to a certain green & yellow team.Agree our defensive line needs shoring up, we need depth as well for the inevitable injuries that killed us last year. They are talking about releasing a couple other guys, either traylor or washington, who knows about b’robb…
All nervous about it, but as of now they’re 12 million under the cap so… :aliensmile: yup, I agree letting Big Cat go has to be one of the dumbest moves I can think of, right up there with drafting McClown. Miller, I am not so sure. The Chicago Sun-Times had an article showing Jim Miller upset with the team’s loyalty. I would have loved for Miller to stay, as his heart and support of the team was the highest of any Bears QB I have seen in… well maybe ever. Somebody had to go, much rather it would have been Chandler. I just can’t bring myself to defend Angelo on how it all went down, not at all. I do see we might be in the Running for Stewart or Plummer. Not sure which I would take, but rather one of them than a rookie washout. Imagine Emmit in blue and orange…. I would love it but he will cost too much and where will they come up with money for a QB unless, they opt for a rookie starter. I am wondering who Angelo has his eye on. He is very sneaky.
Yeah the Miller things bugs me, play injured, play thru pain, we only trust you, yeah you’re our guy…the loyalty thing is a big issue. They had him at the fan convention signing autographs last Saturday, less than a week later he’s dumped without notice
angelo says he wants the new guy that comes in not to feel Miller breathing down his neck He’s injury prone, usually doesn’t finish a season but he’s the leader of our team, wonder what kind of message that sends the rest of the guys Chandler & burris still on the books though :slap:I heard Brian Griese may be visiting Chicago in the next couple days, I’d take him in a flash over plummer (interception prone) or kordell(bit of a head case) Griese apparently is a bit of a loner, not much of a leader but has a pretty good record compared to the other two. leon clown shoes johnson gone as well, happy with that though he drove me nuts on returns dancing back & fourth on the field doing the icky shuffle but not moving forward. Shame about Whigham thou, he was a hard hitter, love those kinda guys :aliensmile:

I used to say that the Stillers wouldn’t be any good till he was off their roster, now I’m smiling and waiting to see what can be next in the stable as thin ice world of the NFL.
The Bears may be losing players, but with a revitalized Soilder Field the magic may return.
All eyes on september, or rather any warm weather month will do.

Such a shame, he was a wicked player, only good thing coming out of losing such a talent is that he didn’t go to detroit which had been rumored The whole Kordell thing is making me sick, rumor out there that one of his stipulations is that we don’t draft a qb in the 1st 3 rounds if we want him…
He’s visiting the ravens on monday so…Go Ravens Go
So looking forward to the return to Soldier Field & of course any warm weather month…
