October 9, 2003 at 6:26 pm #94102ok, i’ve decided on a bit of experimentation….here are my picks for the week…..as determined by a coin flip for each game (excluding the stillers game, of course
). here’s hoping this method is a little better than my sad "educated" picks……Oakland@Cleveland – Cleveland

Mike Alstott from Tampa out for the season, neck injury

Big mouth Sapp warned about his disrespectful prancing thru the other teams warm up, Lavarr Arrington has threatened to take action if it happens on Sunday. Apparently Sapp will take a 15 yard penalty if anything happens, doubt that’ll stop him, hopefully Arrington will…

ps to a certain NHL fan…enjoy the season
October 11, 2003 at 1:47 pm #94105NHL Fan????
… Is there another NHL fan on this board???
The NHL season is off to a horrible start. Labor Strife, and the unfortunate death of Danny Snyder (age 25). Since I am a Los Angeles Kings fan, I find it easy to root for the Atlanta Thrashers in the East… Of course, my Kings have lost two defenseman to injury in two days. Ugh…anyway… Go Kings, Go Stillers, and Go Chargers!!! The Chargers CAN NOT LOSE this weekend!!! YES!!!!
Carl.
October 11, 2003 at 4:02 pm #94106Shame about that whole Danny Snyder incident

Here’s an explanation of the Leaping Rule

Abdullah with the BEARS out following couple early morning accidents, side swiped someone & took off, rolled his suv couple minutes later…reportedly very very drunk…
Grab a cab, get a hotel, sleep in your car…don’t drive drunk
Punter from Jacksonville out for the season, messin’ with an axe in the locker room & severely gashed his leg…
October 12, 2003 at 1:01 am #94107Yeah.. I have heard that explanation, and I have also heard the reasoning behind it.. Safety for the players.. Safety?!?! Come on, this is football. These guys are huge, and the players on the line are huger
.. People have a chance to get hurt on every play.. So why can they not land on someone to block a kick, but it is okay to land on someone if you leap to block a pass???I still hate the rule. I do understand not using another player as a trampoline, but coming down on them??? Oh well… Tuck rule one year, leaping rule another year…
and that is hilarious about the punter. The coach allowed it, and so Jacksonville may end up paying him, even though it is a Non Football Injury, and are not obligated to.
Carl.
