      favourable review from mojo mag

Fresh from touring with Stooge Ron Asheton, ex Dinosaur Jr man has a second solo album.

Unlike so many groups who’re obviously trying a lot harder than he is, J Mascis has made a good fist of not repeating himself much over a 17-year-plus career. Yes he still lumbers like an opiated yeti around his own patch of mountainside : wavy-gravy powerpop, vocal croaking that might benefit from a mug of Lemsip, the odd frazzled acoustic number, fluid blasts of electric soloing…These solos rarely deviate into a self-indulgence, and that what keeps him afloat is his unflagging pursuit of a good tune. There are some corkers here — the funky Freedom, the Stoogy grunger Bobbin’, the lovely, flute-assisted Someone Said — and oodles of six-string wiggin’. Allegedly it’s a concept album about J’s new-found pastime of skydiving. Whatever it takes…
