…..sounds nasty, prefer the old-fashioned way, currently drinking a nice Sancerre Rouge, accompanied by a fine piece of Emmentaler cheese

Currently in my fridge:
– Westmalle Dubbel
– Rodenbach
– La Chouffe
– Celis White (strange: the best white beer in the world comes from the US
)Outside the fridge:
– Westmalle Tripel (needs to be enjoyed at just below room temperature IMHO

Do you know the shop De Bierkoning in Amsterdam? Just next to an Irish pub, behind Dam Square, near the Magna Plaza? They have a lot of really specialist beer in there, if I’m ever in Amsterdam I pick up a load of Floreffe Dubbel and Dragon Stout (Jamaican) as I really can’t find them anywhere else.

ps. That Irish pub is called O’Reilly’s, a great place as well….
February 21, 2004 at 4:16 pm #98325That’s it, I have been drunk in there a few times, but my favourite place to drink in Amsterdam is De Zotte, I’m guessing you probably know the place.

, and conveniently located near the Melkweg….
Another very fine place to drink a beer in Amsterdam: de Wildeman (in the Nieuwezijdse Kolk), always 18 different beers on tap, and the largest collection of bottled beers in town, and it must be one of the very few bars in town with a smoke-free area (and no music as well…

Exploding Beer Bottles Injure 470 Chinese
14 October, 1998
By Lawrence Morahan
CNS Staff Writer(CNS) – Beer bottles made of shoddy glass bursting in the summer heat injured an estimated 470 Chinese, many of them seriously, during the July – September peak drinking season. Some of those maimed by flying glass suffered eye injuries, according to the China Electronic Times. The explosions were up 130 percent over 1997 and accounted for 79 percent of consumer product safety accidents nationwide, the report said. The problem stems from a bottle shortage which causes brewers to reuse bottles long past their shelf life. China plans to brew 24 million tons of beer by 2010, which would make it the world’s leading producer.
February 23, 2004 at 9:51 am #98333Three years ago some mates and I decided that brewing our own beer was a great idea. So we got all the necessities(sp?) and got it going on.
Our goal was alcohol to the max, so we added way more sugar than suggested on the recipe. After about a month our baby was done, and to our great surprise it tasted okai. The only problem was that you couldn’t shake the bottles at all, the slightest movement and the bottles would either explode or just squirt out when you unscrewed it. In other words, it was a disaster. Not shaking them at all was fine in the start, but after some bottles of highpowered homemade beer that came inpossible, the result being our kitchen and downstairs living room being covered in a thick, sticky fluid.February 24, 2004 at 12:52 pm #98334Subsong: Oh, i think you drunk Edelweiss Weissbier. Its good, but im not that into weissbier.
Wow, i did not know that it is possible to brew beer at home. Was it hard? I would really love to give it a try. In Finland people only make their own "Kilju"(dont know the english word) and it has about 97% alcohol and tastes so shit. Its true poison.
