        Sounds cool 8)

I only got into Grant Lee Buffalo last year after hearing Mighty Joe Moon. His voice is sorta like Mark Lanegen meets David Bowie.

all of his solo records are good as well. but mighty joe moon is spectacular. his home base is LA (my sis lives there) and about a year ago she saw grant lee and john doe play a surprise acoustic gig at some tiny dive……

I would love to see a reunion of the original GLB lineup. I saw them on the Mighty Joe Moon tour, and not only was Phillips playing a 12-string acoustic run through a ton of pedals and two amp stacks, but the bassist attacked his instrument with hardcore ferocity. They’d go from delicate picking and strumming to a Husker Du-style roar in the blink of an eye. It was really fucking impressive.

              GLB / GLP rank(s) high in dB’s all-time favourites list…. 8) 8) 8)

GLP’s last album ‘Virginia Creeper’ is excellent, and that covers album sounds fun….

Damn! That’s really great — it takes me back to that show all those years ago. It was one of those moments where I had the album, thought it was pretty good, found out at the last minute they were playing in town, went to the show on a whim and was totally — and unexpectedly — blown away. Never saw them again, as Phillips and Kimble split not long after.
