Hey Mattmaniac,

Your really starting to scare me, starting to suspect that alien mask your talking about is your real face under that tim robbins/devil/smart ass deal

Actually that sounds like a hilarious outfit, no doubt you see more than a few of those touristy types around your part of the world. I’d say hit a thrift shop for some of those wild old man golf pants and tropical shirts Take a pic and let us see the final result, should be cool.

The top ten Halloween Costumes I’m considering:

10. Mattman
9. Screw costumes – I’m smashing pumpkins, it’s pumpkins day, bastards.
8. The smilie
7. Maynard James Keenan
6. Mr. Clean
5. Billy Corgan (anyone seeing a baldness theme?)
4. A Detroit Lions fan [paper bag on head]
3. Joe Lieberman
2. Ralph "TV EYE" Nader
1. Osama Bin Laden

I went trick or treating till I was 15,some past costumes were:
Wolverine from the X Men
Pink Panther
a hunter(dressed up in hunter`s orange)

I have some ghost stories lined up to tell you soon, should be a cool thread. Not made up ones either-real ones.

OK, so one of my favorite hollidays is just a few weeks away…

I want to hear about your cool costume ideas, past, present, theoretical, or otherwise.

I’ll start.. My devil Mattman icon thing to the left is very similar to my costume from last year. The only major difference is that I didn’t have the red pants. Couldn’t find any unfortunately. Do have the red jacket though. Even had the horns glued to my forehead.

Here’s an idea I’m entertaining for this year…

I want to get some really loud, touristy looking clothes, like a fishing hat and a bright Hawaian shirt, etc. Hang a camera aroung my neck, maybe a name-tag, and other such things. Basically look like a stereotypicall toursist…

But, then, I’ll get an alien mask (one of those grey type aliens ) to wair with the tourist gear. And to top it off, I’ll fasten a pair of those Groucho Marks looking glasses onto it. The kind that have the fake nose and mustache attached to them…

So basically I’ll look like an alien tourist trying (poorly) to pass as a human…

Here’s a VERY CRUDE example of what I’m talking about..

Wadda you folks think?

Hey Allison, great idea on the old man golf pants. I was kinda trying to think what’d be good for pants, but my brain wasn’t working.

As to whether I’m an alien dressed as a Mattman, or a Mattman dressed as an alien or an alien dressed as a Mattman, dressed as an alien… I’ll never tell.

Hey Jaron, I like costume idea number 10.

Diggin’ the Pink Panther thing Salami, I got my little stuffed Pink Panther here in my room (you folks may have seen it in the background of some of my pics.) Not usually one for the stuffed toys, but I saw it at a thrift store back in highschool and had to grab it on impulse.

Tonyman, you should dress up just to do it… It’s lots-o-funâ„¢. I got to though. I’ve already got a party to go to on the 27th. Gotta have a clever costume for that cuz its a Soular System Halloween deal.

Lookin’ forward to those ghost stories too…

Hey Jaron,

My vote for your costume is number 4 the paper bag/lions fan deal Have seen a few of those on detroit fans recently…wonder why

Pick the loudest pants you can Mattman…if they are not loud enuf get some spray paint and do a plaid design yourself…fluorescent orange & green with some pink thrown in for good measure

The funniest costumes I’ve heard and saw were:

-Captain Crunch
-John Denver with Kermit the Frog
-1970’s John McEnroe (short shorts, long socks, headband, wooden racket and all).

One year I saw someone as Mr. Canoehead,he was a character on a comedy show here in Canada, maybe some non Canadians might know him here;it`s just a guy with a canoe on his head.

Well, just bought an alien mask… Not completely sure if I’m happy with it, but for now its all I could find. Its this cheap (as in $4) glow-in-the-dark deal that you can kinda see through. Unfortunately its the ONLY alien mask that I could find after checking 3 different stores. You’d think someone would make a decent one out there. Oh well, a little flat-grey spray-paint and maybe I can get it looking alright.

There’s one more place I gotta try though. Its this really cool costume shop that was closed by the time I got to it. If there’s a decent mask, I’ll find it there. The store’s a bit expensive though. I’ll have to try to fight my way in sometime next week. It’ll be packed, it always is the week before Halloween, but I’ll manage.

Still gotta get the funny glasses and hit the thrift shops for some cheeseball tourist clothes.

Still like to here about some of you folks costume ideas if you got ’em. Also looking foward to those ghost stories Salamiguy promised…

My best costume idea was about three years ago when I was Laura Palmer from Twin Peaks. I wrapped myself in plastic, made my face look dead, and put gel in my hair to make it look wet. Not very comfortable though!
When I was 8 I went as Boy George and when I was 13 I was Robert Smith.
As far as this year goes, I’m blank. And the party I’m going to is in 5 days! I’ll keep checking back here to hopefully get some ideas. Hey Staingirl, love the Laura Palmer thing. Does sound a little uncomfortable, but then again, I can’t say that I’ve ever been one to allow a little bit of discomfort keep me away from a good costume idea…

As far as a costume idea for you… You said you were "blank", so I decided to take you literally. I was thinking that you could somehow go as "nothing", but that may be a little too "out there".

So I was thinking, maybe take that concept and make it more concrete… Go as something ever-present, but rarely thought about… There are plenty of things around like that, but none I can think of at the moment.

Anyway, don’t know if you like my concepts or not, you just gotta keep your eyes and ears open to everything around you… Something good’s bound to hit you (probably last minute, that’s the way it always works. )

If all else fails, you can go as that canoe-head thing Salamiguy mentioned or maybe J Mascis.

Where is this party anyway? Is it at a club, friend/stranger’s house, inside/outside? Is it private, or open to the public? These things can help you find appropriate ideas for a good costume… Gotta be clever though. Pre-made, generic, store-bought costumes just don’t display one’s creativity.

…Now I just gotta think of something for my sister… Any ideas on that? The same "clever" idea applies… But keep it clean people!

Hey Staingirl,

Ever since I checked out Tim Burtons book The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy I have thought that The Girl with Many Eyes would be a wicked costume. Blue face with about nine eyes…sounds like a wicked DIY kinda deal The Pin Cushion Queen would be pretty cool also (pg92), kinda looks like Voodoo Girl but with pins sticking out all over the skull as well as the heart and hands

Mattman will do some thinking on that sis costume deal
