Universal is going to lower it’s cd prices 31% next month, all in an attempt to win back customers. It’s a start…
Seems those copy protected discs are causing all kinds of trouble for labels, people can’t play them in their cars, computers, walkmans…
September 4, 2003 at 10:40 am #94487God, Allah, Buddha, Krsna, Visnu, Siva, etc.. Bless the Malaysian Government..
Quote:As far as piracy goes, UMG is clearly taking the advice of the Malaysian government, which a few months back told CD and DVD makers to cut their prices if they wanted consumers to choose official product over illegal copiesat least they got it right.. CD’s are too freaking expensive. The price of the media, and technology to create them has fallen, while the price of the CD in the stores has not.

September 6, 2003 at 12:58 pm #94488Hmmm, don’t think I’d admit anything to the riaa
September 9, 2003 at 2:30 pm #94489The lawsuits are on, apparently the riaa has already settled with some people for 3 grand
September 9, 2003 at 4:54 pm #94490The RIAA are suing 12 year olds

September 16, 2003 at 11:04 am #94491BMG will start releasing copy protected CD’s this month in the USA

copy protected cd’s
:slap:seems there may be ways around the protection
September 18, 2003 at 2:22 pm #94492Seems like there may be a problem with those subpoenas the riaa loves to send out
There are privacy concerns over the possible misuse of the subpoena process the riaa uses, anyone can submit a request & with minimal effort get your personal info…

Gotta love that, hopefully changes to that process occur asap…
September 25, 2003 at 12:38 pm #944931st they sue a 12 year old for nursery rhymes, then a senior citizen for 300 million bucks…
riaa wrong again, withdraws lawsuit :slap:

love the way they continue to threaten her, even though she never did anything wrong. Bunch of thugs
September 26, 2003 at 1:08 pm #94494Gotta love this, Kazaa sues the riaa for distributing it’s copyrighted p2p software illegally
September 28, 2003 at 3:25 pm #94495Here’s a site to check out which labels or artists are RIAA related (or not)
RIAA Alarm

it works like this: keyword: J Mascis
September 29, 2003 at 9:53 am #94496More power to KAZAA!!!!
How ironic that the RIAA, in the name of justice, feels free to bend and break the rules at every conceiveable oppurtunity. Anyone else starting to sense all the BS and double standards involved here? :slap:
And where do they get off suing someone for 300 million dollars? I mean, 2000 files at say 15 songs per album is approx. 133 albums. At $15 dollars an album, that’s $2000 of music. Throw in some penalty fees…You owe (in kooky DR. Evil voice) 300 million dollars!!!! Um haw haw haw haw…um haw haw haw!!!!! Yeah right

Liking the RIAA alarm!

I also like the whole antitrust issues that are now surfacing. The RIAA better watch its back…or it will be gone b4 it nows what hit it!!!
Speaking of monopolies and anti-trust laws…last week I paid $20 for a $14 Built To Spill ticket. That’s almost a 50% markup for doing nothing more than selling me the frickin’ ticket. Seeing as how I the only way I can get a ticket is to go to the ticket office of the venue, which is impractical if it’s out of town, or go to ticketmaster. If this isn’t a monopoly, I don’t know what is. How did Pearl Jam lose this fight???
Rally round the family…pocket full of shells!
Raise my fist and resist…
Hey RIAA…you’re #1!!!!

That Waste program sounds pretty interesting, create im & file sharing private groups with encryption protection…
October 10, 2003 at 1:09 pm #94498Gotta love the description of Norm Coleman as the Avenging Angel of the p2p community & Orin Hatch as the Devil…
October 15, 2003 at 2:03 pm #94499The movie industry has gone insane, seems they want to limit distribution of pre oscar dvd’s to deal with the piracy issues…sorry but those films are already out there! Net result of this will be limiting the exposure Indie Films get, hmmmm wonder if thats ok with the big guys…probably part of the plan all along
October 21, 2003 at 3:31 pm #94500New round of riaa crap coming out, they’re now sending out warnings to people prior to suing them. Apparently you have ten days to settle before they file the suit against you, they want minimum $750 for each song shared. The suits will know be rolling out weekly versus in bunches of a couple hundred, wonder how many 12 year olds they’re gonna sue this time…dirty bastards

Heres a transciprt of a recent online interview with Norm Coleman about the riaa senate hearings…Norm Coleman
