September 25, 2004 at 11:59 am #85513Yeah,I heard about that GBV 3 record set
lots of good songs there :aliensmile:September 25, 2004 at 12:03 pm #85514I’m really excited about it! There’s so many unreleased songs from the Bee Thousand days, apparently there were 6 different versions of it before he settled on the final one. And there’s not one single song that is included on all the versions of it. Which means there’s tons of unreleased goodies.
-Hardcore UFO’s really reinstalled my love for GBV, so this will be greatly appreciated

October 11, 2004 at 8:52 am #85520Matador Celebrates 15th Anniversary with 3xCD Comp
Miles Barger reports:
Alright, cutting to the chase: Indie powerhouse Matador is releasing a new compilation tomorrow, and you should be excited. Why? Don’t play stupid. Let’s talk about this:Past: In 1997, Matador released What’s Up Matador?. The two-disc set included both new and unreleased tracks from bands like Yo La Tengo, Pavement, Teenage Fanclub, Superchunk, Cat Power, Spoon, Liz Phair, The Fall, and Guided by Voices, among others. Also, it was cheap. Come 1999, Matador had the good grace to bestow yet another compilation upon the music-loving masses with the release of both audio and video versions of Everything Is Nice, a celebration of the label’s 10th anniversary. The 3xCD comp featured music from many of the bands featured on What’s Up Matador?, and was augmented with the addition of Nightmares on Wax, Guitar Wolf, Modest Mouse, Mogwai, Sleater-Kinney, Matmos, Boards of Canada, and Arab Strap. The DVD/VHS comp featured videos from many of these same artists.
Present: Matador is now 15 years young, and its pubescence has sprouted up the addition of Pretty Girls Make Graves, Interpol, The New Pornographers, Mission of Burma, Belle and Sebastian, and M. Ward, just to mention a few. So, what’s a label to do? Well, true to form, Matador is celebrating by releasing yet another lovely comp. Titled Matador at 15, the collection will consist of one CD of "greatest hits," one CD of rarities and unreleased tracks, and a DVD of music videos. All the included material comes from the glorious period 1999-2004 and, according to Matador, will come packaged in "an exquisite embossed laminated fold-out digipak which is to the word LOUD as [the] tenth anniversary package was to the word MUTED." A 20-page booklet featuring original documents detailing the treacherous and twisted life of the label during the past five years will also be included, and the whole damn thing will be priced no higher than, say, Interpol’s Antics, or the latest crap The Donnas are putting out. Detailz:

I leafed through Anthony Kiedes’ Autobiography and all I could tell was how many girlfriends he’s had throughout his lifetime
