that’s fucking awesome, tubby. they put on one of the best live shows (including all genres and venues) that i have ever seen (certainly in my top 5). it was at a smoky little place called Grafitti in the ‘burgh back in about 1990. i was completely blown away. curt blew the fucking roof off of that place………
……..dunno if these have been mentioned here yet, but son volt’s new album drops March 06th…it’s titled "The Search". i’ve heard 2 tracks so far and both sound great. one of them ("the picture" i think it’s called) has an almost e street band vibe to it, with some big horns and some keyboard…can’t wait to hear the rest of it! then on may 15 the new one from wilco arrives…"Sky Blue Sky". i’ve heard a few of the tracks played live, but as wilco fans know, what i heard on the stage could be a far cry from what appears on the album……i’m totally pumped up for both of these records. the last 2 respective records from these bands both rocked my world…here’s hoping for more of the same……

Drummer and songwriter Grant Hart (of Minneapolis-legends Husker Du) will perform at the Zone Gallery in Kansas City, MO on Friday, March 2. His rare solo performance will be part of an art gallery showing entitled Grant Hart: 20 Masterpieces of Modern Art, featuring Hart’s visual works.The Dada-influenced art collection will include pieces ranging from Hart’s earlier collages to his more recent projects.
Only 17 years old when he co-founded Husker Du in 1979 with Bob Mould and Greg Norton, Hart designed all of the band’s award-winning visual art under a pseudonym. Husker Du gained revered cult-status throughout the 80s, inspiring many of the musicians, specifically Uncle Tupelo, who would forge the “No Depressionâ€

There can be no doubt that the song-writing on Little Pop Rock incorporates many elements that will be familiar to Mary Chain fans, but to focus solely on the input of the estranged Reid brothers would be a disservice to the vocals of their sister Linda. The Toshack Highway moniker seems too unwieldy for a number of reasons – people never remember the name for starters (or pronounce it incorrectly!) and it’s just easier for people to remember my own name anyway. Also the album is much more song/guitar driven, and to me Toshack is more this instrumental/keyboardy thing, so actually the Toshack name might re-appear at some point with music more in that original vein, but for the time being AF it is..The album will feature the recent Syd’s Eyes single and Birdsong (Moonshiner Version), which were previously only available as Black Mountain seven inch and Shifty Disco download-only release respectively, as those tracks should be made more widely available.
The cover of Wolf Parade’s Shine A Light that was posted at http://www.myspace.com/toshackhighway will also be on the album due to a certain amount of public demand – the lyric about "waiting for something that’ll never arrive" seemed particularly appropriate due to this album taking so long to get released!
The album should get released in the US/North America May/June time and there will be full band dates with the Bolts of Melody band in the US around that time.
It would still be way cool if Swervedriver just got back together. Still new Adam Franklin stuff should be cool.

Bob Moulds new disc finished, all guitar based, reports its workbookish/body of songish. definitely a cool thing
(I still haven’t recovered from the 1st listen to modulate, it should have come with a warning!)
