A CHARITY ALBUM FOR THE HETRICK MARTIN INSTITUTE’S HARVEY MILK SCHOOLChris Slusarenko of Off Records has teamed up with John Cameron Mitchell and Stephen Trask to create the tribute album to end all tributes. Look below for a list of artists they have been working with (of course these are subject to change):

-Ben Folds, Ben Kweller & Ben Lee (Wicked Little Town-Tommy Version)

-Bob Mould (Nailed)
-Yoko Ono (Hedwig’s Lament/Exquisite Corpse)
-They Might Be Giants (The Long Grift)
-The Breeders (Wicked Little Town-Hedwig Version)
-Jonathan Richman (Origin of Love–Reprise)
-Cyndi Lauper (Midnight Radio)
-Stephen Trask & John Cameron Mitchell (are working on a NEW Tommy Gnosis song and a NEW Hedwig song as time allows)Emily Hubley (the animator from Hedwig) will be designing the cover art.

This band, which is evidently about ten years old, could be called something like a nordic Pogues. The gross majority (all of?) their songs are old medevil ballads and folks songs, which they update with modern styles and the occasional computer loop. Because of the loops and the female volcalists operetic style, the band could almost be percieved as the bastard child of the Pogues and the Cocteau Twins. And the vocals (sung in Sweedish) are almost easier to understand than those of Elizabeth Fraiser.
