I ain’t complaining – I heard the track from the japanese show – w/Lou on backup falsetto (!!) and it rocked. But what led to this? I thought it was "unfair" for them to play any post-Lou stuff!

i think i remember someone saying that Lou really liked the song and wanted to play it.

I just wish they would play Thumb. :(

maybe it’s the equivalent of hitting the ‘reset’ button on the late 80s history of the band. the wagon was, after all, the first single dino put out after lou’s exit…so perhaps playing it now is a way to show people that all hatchets are buried. who knows.

That’s prety cool. I think if Lou is up to the challenge to play post-Lou Dino material then it’s totally cool. I just thought that it would be unfair to put Lou in a position to play songs he didnt have any hand in creating. If he wants to do it, then awesome. No complaints here. I just wish that they plaeyd the Wagon when I got to see them.

Mike Johnson had to play songs that he had no hand in creating.

But yeah, I was surprised too. Pleasantly..

Mike Johnson was a replacement though, he had to know going in that there was a big back catalogue for him to learn. With Lou there’s a little more respect involved.

Don’t get me wrong its awesome to hear them play the Wagon. I can’t wait to see it tonight!

In an interview, which I can’t find right now, J says he suppose they could play other songs than just from the three first albums, but he didn’t see any reason why.
But that was in june or july 05.

these reunion songs are the songs most of us have longed for and almost begged for, before the reunion happened. but now we miss the newer tunes. :D

Personally I loved the setlist from the show I saw last summer in Europe. But if the band come back to europe this summer to do festivals (which I hope they do), I feel it would be cool to add some other songs to the repetoire. there are still songs to pick, especially from Bug. And if the band members feel ok about picking post 89 dino tunes, that would make the setlists even more exciting.

                  And there’s a new album going on … ;D

Where in Europe are you wanting to see them? From what the dinosaurjr.com site says, they should be somewhere near you. They have a lot of dates in Europe posted for May and the beginning of June.

The new album is the best news ever. I am actually in disbelief right now because one goes so long thinking that this is it for their favorite band and out of nowhere, the original line-up gets together and starts making music again. How can this be? I hope they start a huge tour for the new album next year.

That is, of course, if none of this about a new album is just a rumor.. What a sick joke that would be!

It better not be! We have photos of them recording, Lou talks about it on his site, forum and in interviews. I’d say it’s pretty much a done deal. If there’s never a new album I may just give up on listening to music all together.

Of course, the DVD was a sure thing last year and I sure don’t see that at my local record store…

BetteDavisLies: I live in Scandinavia. they were here in August on some festivals. It’s not very likely I will fly to England or Spain or the other countries they play in June.
There are many european festivals in August: reading/leeds, oya (norway) etc. Murph said in an interview they will use July for working on the new cd. Maybe they come to Europe once again in August? But I won’t blame them if they take a pause. They have toured for a long time.

I wonder when the new album comes. And I hope for an european tour to support the album. But I still cross my fingers they will make it to Scandinavia for festivals in August already. If not they will probably wait until the album comes and that could be next year for all I guess. or late this year.
                        We’ll wait and see.

Simmons – It seems that they are doing quite a few European shows. It is too bad that they won’t be near Scandinavia this time, but they seem to be gaining popularity with a new crowd since the reunion. This means a bigger fanbase and a tour that might include your town, right?

Did you just see them the one time at that festival?

BetteDavisLies: I’ve seen dinosaur one time, as a reunion band on a festival. I’ve seen one J and the fog show, plus a J Mascis solo show. all in my home country.
Hope they will play big festival stages again this summer. It was so cool to see dinosaur t shirts at sale again at festivals and lots of people wearing them. I hope they keep dinosaur in business.
