August 29, 2001 at 2:09 am #61121Please not Canada also gave us Bryan Adams and Alanis Morisette… yeah, that’s right.
August 29, 2001 at 2:37 am #61122Hey elj,
Canada has apologized over and over for that horrifying bryan adams. As for Alanis Morisette…ick, but pretty sure you had here on one of your polls I could be wrong maybe it was the bif naked reference that confused me

Indeed I did. The poll was best Alternative album of the ’90s and as I explained at the time, the fact she sold 16 million copies of an alt. album in the 90’s qualified her to be on the list, personal prejudices aside.
Whih brings up an interesting question. Is it ’90s or 90’s? Where does that apostrophe go?
And furthermore, what’s wrong with Bif Naked?
August 29, 2001 at 2:59 am #61124Hey elj,
Disagree that the total sales of a disc gives it the title of best alt anything except maybe the alt crap title. Just my opinion though, not something that comes into play in any of my decisions. Bif Naked, sorry just don’t get it, but sounds like you enjoy it so hey whatevers cool with you.

August 29, 2001 at 10:48 am #61125Good morning, all!
I think that each one told something right about polls and music industry. Nobody is completely right, nobody is completely wrong. Let’s stay with our curiosity about music. This is the most important thing: be curious.
Salamiguy, I’d choose "Rust Never Sleeps" too, for personal reasons, of course. Have you ever seen Neil playing alive? He was in Rock in Rio, but I didn’t go because Rio de Janeiro is far from my town, it’d cost a lot of money and the show was for thousands of people, I prefer a more intimate show. It wouldn’t be nice to travel and spend lots of money and not see Neil playing close to me… So I only watched parts of his show on TV…August 29, 2001 at 10:54 am #61126Neil played my city a few years ago, tickets were $30 in Canadian money.I did`nt go,the opening band would have drove me crazy,it was a Canadian band called Moist that I hate.
Neil would have been worth seeing even at $30 though.I heard some people were outside listening to him,he was really loud!
I have a concert video of him from 1978,it`s Rust Never Sleeps live,he does alot of tunes from that album and does some older songs as well like "Cinnamon Girl","When You Dance","The Loner".very cool stuff.August 30, 2001 at 2:52 am #61127I don’t know this band, Moist. I live in a town that couldn’t be called "little", but records take too long to come here. If I want to hear something different, I have to order it by São Paulo, where there’s a gallery full of rock stores, but of course, it’s necessary lots of money to get tuned. So, my fun is to frequent stores that sell secondhand records. I don’t care if it’s LP or CD, or if it’s a new or old band; it’s cheap! Few days ago, I bought a T. Rex and a Yardbirds. Very good! Some bands, sometimes, come here, I saw The Cult and Echo & The Bunnymen, last year. My musical taste embraces lots of styles and eras! About Neil Young, I like the fact that he plays loud. For instance, in this Yardbirds’ CD that I bought, guitars are very loud, and they were in 1964! Loud guitars and a remarkable singer, these are the main reasons that make me like a band. Bye!
