the race did not go as well as i hoped.

i decided to abandon at the 100th kilometer.
the vets said she was ok though and she could have go on on the last 24 kilometers.

the floor was so crappy (too much very deep sand) that i prefered to stop my lulu at this point cause i was scared to damage her legs.

i was very sad and it was quite a hard decision to take cause i always finished my races, especially with her, but i prefered to preserve her than to think of my image.

anyway, thanks all the freakscene people who participated to this thread for their support.

Huge props to you Sophie for putting the health of Lulu 1st! Don’t see that a lot, always see animals getting pushed past their limits, ending sometimes with the animals being destroyed following broken bones or abandoned in animal shelters after they can no longer do the job…definitely sad. That deep sand sounds like it could have been very dangerous for Lulu, no doubt it was a very difficult choice. I hope you don’t 2nd guess your decision, it definitely sounds like you made the right decision at the right time!

Like I said above HUGE PROPS to you for attempting such a gruelling race & having the courage & strength to withdraw for the sake of Lulu’s health!!!

to be honest i was scared that people could think that i decided to give up cause she had something bad that didn’t let her go on.

then i thought that whatever you do, there’s always some people to badly criticise your choices so the most important was that i felt as happy as possible with my decision.

and today i am glad to know she is able to run again whenever i want.
