I do understand that there is a big difference between an mp3 sourced show and a lossless copy. … but if I received a disc from a trader, I wouldn’t have an idea to detect the difference.

I also understand that traders, who prefer lossless shows and therefore still send & receive shows by snail mail because of the file size, are ready to committ a crime on someone who tries to trade with mp3-shows (intentionally or not). And probably decides not to trade anymore with the sender of such a delight.

Most of it I understand that it would be ridiculous to turn an mp3 sourced show into wavs to compress them again to shns or flacs…

…so: how could I find out if it’s worth the effort or not? and how could I protect myself from being murdered because of unintentionally sending mp3’s around?

ok, first I need some advice as to how I can post a pic here, because and explanation would be lots easier with a pic to point to :)

you go to the site where the pic is > you right click on the pic > you copy the URL of the pic in properties > you insert the URL of the pic here in a "new reply" > you mark the URL and press the "Img" button with the consequence that an [img]tag%20is%20before%20the%20pic%20URL%20and%20an[/img] tag is behind the pic URL.

that’s all, it will be visible here :)

if you leave out the step with the img tags, you will have a link that points directly to the pic on the web.

If you want to link to a pic from your hd, you can upload it first here into the personal gallery in your profile and then follow the steps above.

here’s a good guide for checking out if a show is mp3 sourced or not with EAC:

              thanks a lot, Robert!
so now we’re able to avoid mp3 embarrassment in the trader’s world
