Modest Mouse fans outnumber Dino Jr. fans on Freakscene BBS

Compiled from AP Wire reports

According to a recent online poll, more Freakscene frequenters are fans of the rock band Modest Mouse than are fans of the Dinosaur Jr./J. Mascis. The results reportedly came as a shock to over four members of the Freakscene community. "That just doesn’t make a lot of sense," Antipop said. "I mean, it’s a Mascis board, so you’d think most of the fans would be, you know, Mascis fans. What a strange and wonderful world we live in, eh?" Some, however, were not so pleased and euphoric with the findings. Another Girl Another Place had the following to say: "What the [expletive deleted]? I’m going to [expletive deleted] kill somebody." When reached for comment, Freakscene pariah Jeremiah said ‘no comment’ followed by a 42 minute tirade about "how much damn work [he] had put into the coding" and "where Modest Mouse fans can stick their [expletive deleted] LPs…"

A subsequent survey showed that 75% of non-J. Mascis fans visited the board for "shits and giggles", with 24% explaining "indifference" and 1% claiming "sheer stupidity". J. Masics could not be reached for comment.

Nige meanwhile says ‘Dinosaur Jr kick Modest Mouse’s puny ass! Such people are parasites on the great Mascis and this wonderful site!

WHO are they anyways? ha ha…’

That is strange. I can’t imagine anyone better than Dino Jr. Except The Beatles and Pavement.

They’re a really good rock band. Opinions differ, but The Lonesome Crowded West and This Is A Long Way To Drive For Someone With Nothing To Think About are LPs everyone should own. You should check them out; won’t be disappointed.

Nah, J’s music remains our main obsession… Modest Mouse is just newer…

PS. I’m listening to More Light right now.

Hey ELJ, I’m listening to Modest Mouse right now: yes, I bought ‘Lonesome Crowded West’ finally, just because you guys don’t stop talking about them. Well, it’s quite good, but it may take more time to become really familiar with their sound.
But we should not forget that there are serious authorities like Voodoo Guy or Jeremiah’s wife, who still wouldn’t recommend Modest Mouse

Hey Flying Cloud,

Glad to hear you have checked out MM, well worth it!!! Voodoo Guy is well aware of my plan to lock him up if he doesn’t stop talking shit about MM He came in yesterday when I was writing up my plan, started on MM again but quickly changed his tune

I can’t speak for Voodoo Guy, but I think Jeremiah’s wife prolly would.

yeah, I remember how I bought that MM record (Lonesome Crowded West), just because you guys insisted that much, although I didn’t like the songs, which I downloaded

but hey, meanwhile I love the record and I love ‘the Moon & and Antartica’ even more, and the other stuff of them is fine, too – so thanks again for insisting …

Xerox to that FC, those two records are pretty good anytime I play them. On LCW, I still think Brock’s lyrics are not put together for written sense all the way through every song, but maybe for verabl sound’s sake. ‘Moon’ is much more coherent, yet still interesting.

hahahahaha…best thread.

M&A would be one of my 5 favorite records ever, and LCW is almost as good if not better. One of the best bands out there, my handle is one of their songs. Maybe not for everyone but songs composed while high or tripping in the woods…that’s gold in my screwed up little brain. Anyone know if they are working on anything new?
