Well,
After reading Cale, Jaron, and Allison;s threads, I found and thinking of Irish Whip, I think we have some wrestling fans out here.

First of all, shame on you Allison for dissing Lanza
He was a jerk on the old AWA broadcasts. I like Von Raschke, Bruiser, Crusher, Bockwinkel, Ox Baker and Bobo Brazil. There is an excellent videotape out called "I Like to Hurt People" that revolves around the old Sheik and Detroit’s Cobo Arena (wish there was one for the old Chicago Ampitheater).

Got to meet Hulk Hogan at Ft. Knox Kentucky while in a training school there. Guy is extra large!!!
Did get to see Dick the Bruiser in a cage match before he died. Awesome. The old man was whupping tail into his sixties.

Best though was seeing the Road Warriors tailor fit a chair to Curt Henning’s head and having the ambulance come to take him off. The Roadies are still the best tag team ever.
Later,
Tom.

Not to be hypercritical, but I gave you this impression when?

Oh, Cale, it’s just halfman being halfman.

*makes that funny hand signal for when someone’s been drinking; points in half-man’s direction*

Jaron and Cale,

First off, I read one of Jaron’s old posts on a 6’6" bodyguard headlocking someone and Allison meeting Blackjack Lanza out of Cale’s thread gave me an excuse to make this thread. Sorry if the reference was not clear.

As far as me drinking, I wish I could use that as an explanation for irrational thought, but for the last three years and counting, I cannot. However, I have absolutely no problem offering the social cop-out of being unduly influenced and corrupted by an hodgepodge of my closest, well-meaning but offbase peers.

Hey Halfman,

Never liked Black Jack Lanza, always went more for the funny bad guys like Bobby The Brain Heenan….great manager!!! Loved Nick Bockwinkle as well but no one could beat The Crusher in my books. We all used to go to wrestling cards and cheer for the bad guys, it was more like a good guy bad guy cartoon than what its become now. Stopped going when some guys pulled knives on us for yelling for Jessie The Body They have this old AWA series on some digital channel here, three hours a week of old cards and interviews…sweet

Allison

ps BEARS 5-1 on Sunday, take some revenge on the 49er’s for last years beating

Tony,

Never saw the video, but did participate in some backyard stuff with a friend also. I used to slap the figure four on him and listen to the screams. He was bigger than me but it didn’t matter, that hold is crippling with the bone on bone contact.

Had some stooge in high school put the sleeper on me once. Found out that hold works too .
I would have never attempted the stuff like Catus Jack used to do in his back yard. That dude was dropping elbows off of the top of his garage onto some kid laying on a matress in the back yard. Nuts to that….

Those old Georgia Championship Wrestling/NWA shows on TBS with Gordon Solie were great. The first real fued I saw was Buzz Sawyer Vs, Tommy Rich. Those guys pulped each other in every type of match for a year or two.

Dick the Bruiser ran his own promotion cd the WWA in the 80’s. He had some fake Abdullah the Butcher come. I got close enough to kick him in the behind as he was coming up the aisle. He actually ran after me for a bit. That was good fun

Never got into wrestlin’, guess having too older brothers means you tend to take it a bit more seriously.

Now Battlebots on the other hand.

For you my good man, a boot to the head….

Hey,

Wondering about that neurosurgeon deal, guess with that boot to the head Jaron may need one soon

Evil Malcom I can see where your coming from, sounds like your brothers had a version of The KWA happening with you as the prime target

Road Warriors were a wicked tag team, saw them three times in one nite at a tv taping we went to..they were very scary. The best tag teams for me included Jessie the Body…East West Connection with Mr Sayito or Jessie with Adrian Adonis…
