Bearish On High by Eleventh Dream Day

I’ll admit theres a feeling of defeat
but I resolve to erase that thought
its just adherence to a long standing theme in time
I don’t know why

Hmm you might think these guys were BEARS fans

Allison-they look like BEARS fans plus they`re from Chicago(except Janet)so they might be.That`s the first song I ever heard by them, the way Rick sings it reminds me of Radio Birdman.

Hey SG,

Thought that line worked on a number of levels, today its the BEARS thing (training camp starts in a month ) Your right about the vocals, definitely sounds like Rob Younger from Radio Birdman/New Christs.

No doubt they are BEARS fans

Interesting how Allison posted that after Spaceboy`s post about a Rian Murphy/Will Oldham song;Rick Rizzo from Eleventh Dream Day is also in Chestnut Station with Rian Murphy which is a 70`s pop/soul type band with horn section, diffrent then the usual stuff they do.Murphy is the head honcho of Drag City records and used to play drums with the Royal Trux and sometimes the Silver Jews.
Rick also toured with Will Oldham so all this connects.

Down in the cellar, with Dolly and Sue
Smoking fags and feeling cool
Talking to the guy who lives downstairs
and walking around in ridiculous flares
Back in the bushes we find a cat
and beat ‘m up with a baseballbat
And Grandma said we’ll grow up bad
‘n go straight to hell, just like dad

But dont you get your hopes up high…
the kid’s allright

Hey SG & SB,

That is odd, one of those bizarre freakscene moments of symmetry or something like that

Strange again is that someone sent me a song by Seam called Decatur, pretty sure I know who but could be wrong, anyways The Chicago Bears used to be called the Decatur Staleys Great song even without that connection.

Seam`s main guy is from Chicago so it could be another BEARS thing

I think my fav line from Bearish On High is:"irony means alot to me,it gives me faith".

People say that once I cut my hair
I started showing up everywhere
Well I’m standing tall, but I got nothing at all
So I grab at everything I see

Rainbow nights and stunning whites
The stars they shine but don’t belong to me
Passive fools by the swimming pools
I’ll fit right in with my pathetic grin

But you will always remind me of what I don’t want to be…

*lyrics slightly altered for own satisfaction*

Got something to say, sit down on the bed
I’ve something that I usually leave unsaid
It doesn’t come so easily, I guess that’s no surprise…
I wanna see my heart’s reflection in your eyes
I wanna see my heart’s reflection in your eyes

Kurticus-my fav lyric from YLT`s Straight Down To The Bitter End is "demand the pages that you`ll never read";it`s dedicated to a teacher I had around the time that album came out,we had to do presentations to the class and write alot of stuff,I don`t think the guy even read the crap load of pages we passed in.I had the flu twice and was trying to finish up the school year, that Yo La Tengo album was a help to relax and get through it.

Hey by The Hellacopters

You say you wanna help me out
but you just fill my head with doubt
I got my own reality and it sure ain’t virtual
its my highway
And I choose
my lane
And I control the cruise
Yeah I got feelings but bet your ass their not mutual

Hey
I said hey
Hey

Of course the song has that wickedly cool guitar sound that I am SUCH a sucker for…oh well its all cool with me

Everything that keeps me together is falling apart.
I got this thing that I consider my only art,
of fucking people over.
My boss just quit the job
says he’s going out to find blind spots.
And he’ll do it.
The 3rd planet is sure they’re being watched
by an eye in the sky
and it can’t be stopped.
When you get to the promised land
you’re gonna shake the eyes hand.

I try to sit and talk with you but you know how our moods change all the time
I try to wait a week or two but by then I’ve probably changed my mind
Cause ever since that time I told you so, something gets in my mind and I don’t let go
Stories and words their here and gone
Cause thats what you always say
