Hey all. THe new record came into the college radio stn recently and i listened to it 4 times in a row. I think it is pretty awesome. lou’s 2 songs are fucking great. I will post a song by song review if anyone wants my opinion, but you’ll be quite satisfied with waiting.
my fav tunes so far are:

      Crumble
      pick me up
      it’s me
      lightning bulb
      back to your heart

lightning bulb and back to yoru heart are lou’s songs and imo are the best lou songs i’ve heard in a long time. lightning bulb is very bassy, drum oriented with a lot of fish bowl echoed guitar. fuck..it’s awesome. i only hope they play it live.

the record itself reminds me of dino over the span of it’s lifetime, but with the only rhythm section that really works. crumble has some tasty guitar hooks, pick me up has some metal elements in it, and it’s me is again a heavy guitar track.

the album isn’t polished crap either. doesn’t seem like much compression at all if any and the sound is probably even greater blasting out of a great stereo system. in terms of production, steve albini came to mind. it is raw and beautiful and honest.

j’s singing at times seems to be behind the canvas of sound that it this record. damn…this record has some real sonic moments. and oh…the spacerock guitar sounds on some tracks.

more later. i want to have another listen to this record before i go home. it’s too good to burn or rip to my computer. i’ll listen to it every time i come to the station, and buy it when it comes out. the anticipation to have my own copy will still be great, but i’m fortunate to volunteer for a university radio station. dial into your college radio stations and request to hear some of the tunes i mentioned above. you’ll be pretty stoked!

Wow :) Welcome, Dave. I’m sure the band will be pleased to read this. 8)

Hey whats up Dave I haven’t seen you around here in a while. We met at the Seattle Showbox Show in August of 2005. Are you going to come down to any of the Washington shows in May? (just noticed you’re in Manitoba not British Columbia)

I agree the album rules. "Its Me" is my favorite. "Back to your Heart" is way good too.

PM me or something, nice to see you around.
