3. Damn! 10 cool vinyls .. and I’m happy if I find a nice girl who likes me .. Now I’m thinking I may have to raise my standards! Nah, guess I’ll just keep on thinking "oh well, it’s the thought that counts" when it comes to bday gifts
4. Just realised I prolly had a glass of wine too many at dinner so just ignore any stupid nonsense I might have said above
October 7, 2001 at 10:52 am #66581Sounds like you had a good birthday Robert!
I got these yesterday:
Ivy-Long Distance
Sarah Vaughan-Snowbound/The Lonely Hours
Ella Fitzgerald-Cole Porter Songbook-vol 1
Henry`s Dress
Roy Orbison-The Big O-singles collection(Tarnation and the Rock A Teens cite him as a big influence so I thought I`d check this out)
Gumball-Wisconsin Hayride ep(they cover The Damned`s New Rose and Black Flag`s Depression with a guest guitarist:some guy named J Mascis!)October 8, 2001 at 11:23 am #66582Eggwater-sorry you did`nt like Naked Raygun,Half Man`s description of them sounded good;I don`t have anything by them so when I mentioned them it was that I heard they were good(some people on Mould`s site were talking about them too).
Robert-There`s a song on Pavement`s Westing that sounds like the Damned`s New Rose,I heard Gumball`s version of it and was trying to remember who it sounded like, then it came to me.October 8, 2001 at 7:24 pm #66583The Naked Raygun guys did get weaker as they went on. You are right, Adam. Their politics are dated and at times excessive. What album did you get BTW? (not a con job to make you like them, just curious so I can realte better).

Spizzle Trunk! I was confident you would find the answer, will check it out later and see if I hear the similarity.
October 9, 2001 at 10:56 am #66588Hey Robert,
I bet that single is gonna be outrageously good, how could it not be He is a pretty talented guy, I spent the last hour at work this am listening to the Hellacopters Disappointment Blues… Gotta get a replacement turntable someday soon, that single alone would be worth it…not to mention that Damned cover split they did with Adam West
Hydromatics are coming out with a live disc in the near future, check at the show if your able to go…would be cool!!!
Spaceboy how is that Modest Mouse?

October 10, 2001 at 3:56 pm #66592Just bought Spiritualized – Let it come down. Gotta love the orchestral side of it. The songs are really straightforward, but they don’t seem to do much for me yet. I’ve only listened through the cd a few times so hopefully I can get more into them later on. Still, Medication off of Pure Phase seems to keep it’s place as my fav Spiritualized tune.
October 10, 2001 at 4:28 pm #66593I was thinking about getting the new Spiritualized, tell me if it`s worth checking out Max when you listen to it enough, the reviews I read said it was just as good as anything else they`ve done.

Les on bass, Trey on guitar…what a combo!
Not a big phish fan (they suck) but I have to give mad props to Trey for his guitar playing abilities. He really is excellent, just jammin’ with the wrong dudes. Now that he’s teamed up with Les, I think I like him a lot more. If you like phish or primus, you’ll love this! -
