Someone please whip me like a wildcat’s ass:
I got curious and again bought another new Rollins Band record. That clown has now taken to wearing leather pants and hiring black gospel back up singles. I really think old boy is mentally gone. "Nice", the new album is more metal schtick like on "Get Some, Go Again" No Wayne Kramer on this album. I think I am going to trade it for used Lemonheads. " October 11, 2001 at 12:08 pm #66596I have`nt followed Rollins solo stuff at all, just Black Flag, you should trade it in for some Lemonheads.
Did you get any more Sleater Kinney albums?you said before you just had The Hot Rock,I was reading somewhere that Corin`s hs yearbook was being sold on ebay!
Did you get my pm back to you,you said you had problems with it so I guess that`s why you did`nt send it back,Robert has the same problem.October 11, 2001 at 3:22 pm #66597Went out and checked on Ear Bleeding Country,Still not here yet,so I asked someone,he told me within a month, things are slow around here.
Bought these:
Sparklehorse-It`s A Wonderful Life
Gillian Welch-Time(The Revelator)
Throwing Muses-Limbo-on tape for $1.99!I read some reviews in magizines about the new Mercury Rev and new Spiritualized, both of them got average ratings, guess I`ll have to hear them myself to decide on that.

October 13, 2001 at 9:43 pm #66599Today I found in a second-hand bin:
Jeff Tweedy – Outta print outta site
A lot of Uncle Tupelo/Golden Smog/Wilco rarities, live stuff, b-sides
Great stuff, don’t know if this is a quite legal release…..I also bought:
Continental Drifters – Listen, Listen
Peter Holsapple and friends (including Vicki Peterson, of Bangles fame…) pay tribute to Fairport Convention in their Richard Thompson/Sandy Denny period, a very fine version of "I want to see the bright lights tonight" is the absolute highlight!Sanford Arms – Too loud for the snowman
Somewhere between Wilco and Mercury Rev (with a little bit of dEUS as well) would be a way to describe this, don’t know anything about them, except that they are on the same label as Jon Auer [ex?-Posie], and that I like it a lot!October 17, 2001 at 4:30 pm #66600I just came back from the music store, filled my card and got one cd free, bought two others to do that:
Mercury Rev-All Is Dream
Orange Glass-Underwater Undergroundmy free one:
Modest Mouse-The Lonesome Crowded West
took long enough to come back in here, has`nt been available here for over a year.Almost bought the Sigur Ros cd Spaceboy mentioned before or a John Coltrane`s last concert cd that has been released recently, but I decided to go for the Modest Mouse.October 17, 2001 at 8:33 pm #66601Hey SG,
Not a bad deal, free Modest Mouse…gotta love that That disc is addicting, I swear I have to listen to it every two days or so. Truckers Atlas is such a cool song, don’t usually go for those long songs but that one I just can’t get enuf of Odd though, every time I listen to it I have to go write messages in stalls…

October 17, 2001 at 10:46 pm #66602Tom Petty-Wildflowers
October 19, 2001 at 10:20 pm #66603Mazarin – A tell-tale storyline
Stereolab-like drones, Olivia Tromor Control-like psychedelia, Beach Boys-like vocal harmonies, add a little Grandaddy plus a lot of acoustic guitars, and you might have an idea how this sounds (or you might not…. )October 25, 2001 at 8:55 am #66604SodaStream – Enjoy
Their 1st One, A Beauty
Saw Them last Night, Great Gig
October 25, 2001 at 3:28 pm #66605Just bought:
White Stripes-White Blood Cellssounds really good, den buck bought this awhile ago,in one of the articles about J at the SXSW festival J said he wanted to see them but did`nt get a chance to,plus they toured with Sleater Kinney;all reasons why I decided to check it out.
They music store I bought it at had 3 of their albums,I decided to get this one since it`s the most recent, two guys that work there say they`re going to get the other two soon, they said that this band is wicked, they found it strange that I picked it because they were just talking about it before I bought it!must be my telepathic abilties again.I mentioned that J likes them and they started talking about More Light being an awesome album,so there`s some cool folks in record stores some times.October 27, 2001 at 11:43 pm #66606Glad you liked the White Stripes, Salamiguy, you should also listen to their ‘de Stijl’ album, it’s excellent as well (funny, an American band naming their album after an early 20th century Dutch architecture-movement/style…)
Well, I just bought:
The new Beachwood Sparks album (see seperate topic in the J. news/stories….)
Einsturzende Neubauten – Strategies against Architecture III
Compilation of outtakes/alternative versions/live versions from the last decade by these former noise-terrorists, like a good wine they seem to get better and better as they get older…..Pinback – Blue screen life
A very nice album, somewhere between Built to Spill, Modest Mouse and Pavement, beautiful songs!!October 29, 2001 at 10:27 am #66607Yeah,White Stripes are cool, hopefully I`ll check out some more stuff by them soon, though the guys in the music store are threatening to buy the other 2 albums before me.
On Sat. I got caught in a rain/hail storm on the way to the music store, strange weather here on Sat.,I bought Versus-Hurrah,been wanting to get it for a year so I`m glad I got that.

November 3, 2001 at 8:12 am #66609Just bought:
Beyond Nashville
Excellent compilation of ‘country’-music. Disc 1 starts with Jimmie Rodgers in 1931, and goes on from there via Leadbelly, Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard to the Byrds, the Flying Burrito Brothers and the Band.
Disc 2 has a lot of ‘new’ names, like Ryan Adams, Lambchop, Giant Sand, Alejandro Escovedo, Sparklehorse, Willard Grant Conspiracy etc. etc., excellent compilation!!!Leonard Cohen – Ten new songs
Pure quality from one of the best songwriters alive (I think he is on a average of one song per year….)Modest Mouse – Everywhere and his nasty Patlour Tricks
