Paul Westerberg – Stereo
Didn’t like his last solo-efforts that much (I think ’14 songs’ was his last great record), but this one is a very good one. It say on the record: ‘cut mostly live in the middle of the night, no effort was made to fix what some may deem as mistakes: tape running out, fluffed lyrics etc….’ Well, the man can still write excellent songs…..

The copy I bought came with a free copy of Grandpaboy’s ‘Mono’, the record he released a couple of months ago, I mentioned it when I bought it then, a fine rocking record in the best Replacements-tradition…..

Damn the record-companies and their marketing-strategies…….well, I will find someone who will get my extra copy of ‘Mono’…..

Jamclark-what Versus album to buy next?ALL OF THEM!actually,2 Cents Plus Tax you should check out next,it`s from 1998,it was my fav album of 98.Dead Leaves is great as well,it has a bunch of early singles, some critics don`t like it,don`t listen to them,it`s really good.Plus Minus is great,it`s guitarist James and drummer Pat,have fun at the show

ps-Hurrah was given a 2 star rating by the AMG makes no sense to me,pretty flawless if you ask me,Frederick`s Of Hollywood is one of the best Sonic Youth tributes I ever heard.

I just bought:
4 new tires and new brakes for my car. I think there’s some curse on me buying guitars. My last instrument purchase required me to buy a new battery for my car.

I just bought these records last Friday:

Versus / Hurrah – I really, really like it. Anyone have an idea of a next album to pick up by them? I’m going to see +/- in a few weeks, which is Versus-related according to the show promoter.

Labradford/Fixed::Context – I’ve been listening to a bunch of instrumental stuff lately and didn’t have any Labradford stuff, so I thought I’d give it a listen. Good ‘work’ music. Not too distracting.

Rachel’s/Handwriting LP – I saw Rachels and the Shipping News a few weeks ago and I’ve been picking up their stuff left and right. See above comment about instrumental stuff.

Pedro the Lion/Control – His most raw album to date. 11 songs about a character who just can’t be faithful, no matter what he does. Has one of my favorite lyrics of the year so far: ‘i could never divorce you / without a good reason / but it’s good to have options’.

Flaming Lips/Yoshimi – Okay, so it’s downloaded, but it’s another step closer to perfection for Wayne and crew. If you think the ‘Soft Bulletin’ couldn’t be improved upon, you may want to think again. Amazing.

I can`t wait for the 2 Waits albums either it`s been 3 years since Mule Variations so it`s great to hear something new from him.

salami, i wasn’t that crazy about mule variations or black rider……(but like most of his work, it grows on you the more you listen to it), i hated franks wild years the first time i heard it (just didn’t get it), but now i listen to it about once a week……….

The Black Rider I did`nt like at all,it`s problably the least Waits album I listen to;Mule Variations I liked alot,Frank Wild Years is great as well,I think my favorite album is Rain Dogs or maybe Bone Machine.
Tanya Donelly said recently that Frank`s Wild Years is her Sunday morning record
