May 1, 2002 at 8:35 pm #69706Jamie-too bad that they`re hard to find check around used stores, you might find them there, hopefully they`ll be reissued someday.AG has songs from those albums so you might want to download some.
The asian lettering one is the Afterglow ep,I`ve been listening some songs from that from AG;the Shangri La ep is cool as well, though I think they`re cover of the Shangri La`s Out In The Streets could have been done better,it does`nt better the original.[ 05-01-2002, 06:45 PM: Message edited by: Salamiguy ]
May 3, 2002 at 12:19 pm #69707Caitlin Cary-While You Weren`t Looking;has a 4 song mini cd included, problem is the way it was packaged with a styrofoam thing in the jewelcase, the mini cd came out ok but the normal sized cd got stuck I got it out luckily,I thought I might have to return it.
Anyway,I like Caitlin`s voice, reminds me of Linda Thompson.[ 05-03-2002, 11:55 AM: Message edited by: Flying Salami Brother ]
May 3, 2002 at 10:06 pm #69708Salami Brother of the Flying Kind, I’ve got that Caitlin Cary disc as well (you may have noted the Cary/Ryan Adams duet on my latest mix cd…), like it a lot as well, didn’t have any of the problems with the packaging you had, the normal cd came out nicely, the styrofoam thingy didn’t cause any trouble for me….
May 4, 2002 at 12:21 pm #69709I think pressing on the styrofoam thing caused it to stick,so I guess it was my fault,I should have just pulled it out without pressing on it.
May 8, 2002 at 9:59 pm #69710Norfolk & Western – Winter Farewell
A very fine album, if you like bands like Low, Freakwater, Willard Grant Conspiracy you should check this one, you will love it!
(on FILMguerrero records, very beautiful handprinted sleeve as well)May 10, 2002 at 4:34 pm #69711I JUST bought-The Breeders, Last Splash. $4.00 at a pawn shop. Nice.
Almost bought Sonic Youth’s Experimental Jet Set Trash and No star, but I remembered to check the CD itself first, how can people manage to fuck Cd’s up so badly? you take It out of the player, you put it into the case, how hard can it be?
May 10, 2002 at 4:54 pm #69712Hey Buck or Starbuck
Norfolk & Western – Winter Farewell
This album is that in the same style as their song on Acuarela Songs?
I really like that beautiful song
But I dont "like" the bands u mentioned
So Im kinda Zea
May 10, 2002 at 5:40 pm #69713Scared As U-I was listening to Norfolk And Western yesterday on AG and did`nt think they sounded like Low,or Freakwater ,or WGC;I think Buck was trying to give a general idea of what it sounds like,so you should check it out, can`t be that diffrent then the first album.
Malc-the new Breeders album comes out on the 21st,that should be cool,Last Splash I bought used too several years ago,the guy in the store told me he did`nt like it but this guy also did`nt like Green Mind either
I know what you mean by damaged cd`s,but sometimes no matter how bad it looks,it might still play ok,you should see some of the cd`s I bought looked like but they played without a skip May 10, 2002 at 6:00 pm #69714Scared as U/Sunlight Flyer, by mentioning those bands (that some people might know, I also could have mentioned Sanford Arms and the Zephyrs )I indeed tried to give a general impression of the ‘feeling’ of the music. If you like the Norfolk & Western track on the ‘Acuarela Songs’ you will surely like this album.
The Allmusic review says it better than I can…..
