Borderlord – Stephen BrutonMay 17, 2002 at 11:24 pm #69737The Bomb– Torch Songs
New band formed by ex Naked Raygun singer Jeff Pezzati. Straight-ahead punkpop. Like raygun, but with some piano at times, singalong stuff, but all the fast drum fills and power chords of elder times. Fresh. The Matics– Ignition
More straight ahead melodic punk songs about love and the lack of it.Both of the above slabs can be found at http://www.jettsionmusic.com. Steve Albini pureed both releases. (FYI: Pezatti was also a member of Big Black at one time, Salami-nae )
Blake Babies– Earwig
My first album of theirs. How can one not like this band? Saw their newest at the same store, probably will get it 2mrw. Might copout and change my tag to Steamie Gregg.Oh yeah… lucked into the album called "In Session"
when I found the Blake Babies.

May 18, 2002 at 11:04 am #69738It`s strange that I hardly see any Blake Babies albums around here, except the one from last year;I did find a Mysteries Of Life album from 96 in a used store, has the drummer from the Blake Babies(Freda Love).

Strohm solo-album ‘Vestavia’, which are both distributed through Germany’s Blue Rose records.‘Vestavia’ is currently available through the Blue Rose mailorder service for a little less than 9 euro (about 10 US$), a nice bargain……
May 21, 2002 at 8:08 pm #69741Finaly… the band’s Last Waltz, 4 cd’s history of Americana, rock and roll..name it. Full length, remastered. It is increadible. This is stuff you should check out. If you like Neil Young, Clapton, Dr. John, Bob Dylan, Muddy Waters or Van the Man. pureness and musical skills.
I name one song: It makes no difference! After so many years..it blew my head of again!!May 21, 2002 at 10:51 pm #69742have you heard bob dylan and the band after the flood? that is really good also
May 21, 2002 at 11:51 pm #69743bean, if you like ‘after thw flood’, bob dylan and the band also made one called ‘the basement tapes’. the quality is a little crude, but it’s stilllll pretty good………
May 22, 2002 at 2:38 am #69744Tom Waits-Blood Money
May 22, 2002 at 3:13 pm #69745There`s a Duane Allman anthology out?that should be good;if you never checked out the Allman Brothers`s Filmore Album, check out that, lots of long guitar solos if you`re into that kinda stuff and blues jams, great guitar playing though.
I have`nt listened to too much Dylan but hopefully I`ll check out some sometime,I heard some of his stuff with The Band before; The Last Waltz I `ve seen parts of on TV(like Muddy Waters performing Mannish Boy)I like the story about Sonny Boy Williamson spitting out blood when he played harmonica I don`t think he liked dentists either May 22, 2002 at 5:05 pm #69746
quote:
Originally posted by bean:

You’ll get dylan + the band in great form. Basementtapes are good lo-fi stuff too, but this re-isue of Last Waltz is from another planet.May 23, 2002 at 2:54 am #69747yeah, i’ve tried to listen to that a couple of times but haven’t been able to dig on it yet. but if you do be into that sort of stuff, have you heard duane allman anthology? he gets pretty crazy on guitar
