Hey Salmiguy,
The Hard Stuff is great, some amazing songs…Bad Seed, Realm of Pirate Kings and Edge of the Switchblade and Sharkskin Suit…very cool guitar!!! A friend of ours called when he heard sharkskin suit and left a message saying it was the best thing he had heard since Raw Power…not sure about that but its really great.
Dangerous Madness is also another great one to pick up….if you find it.

August 6, 2001 at 1:01 pm #65459Hey Salmiguy,
Just wanted to add Citizen Wayne by Kramer is pretty cool as well…interesting song about Johnny Thunders…Snatching defeat from the jaws of Victory….yikes
As well Wayne Kramer is releasing Mad For The Racket…The Racketeers in the fall. I picked this up on limited release last year sometime…couple good songs on it. Brian James ex of the Damned plays guitar along with Kramer, Stewart Copeland on drums and Duff McKagen on bass. Originally they were called The Racketeers but switched it to Mad For The Racket when they figured out how many bands there were called The Racketeers. Guess I got a collectors edition of sorts. Bad thing about it is Duff’s singing…wish they had turned off his mike
Also Kramer just recorded a couple of songs with The Hellacopters following the Hultsfred festival in Sweden. Covered MC5 song Gotta Keep Moving and cowrote one with the Hellacopters. These will be on the soundtrack for the MC5 movie "A True Testimonial" apparently the film will be out next year…cool.

August 7, 2001 at 11:02 am #65461Allison-I`ll check out the Hard Stuff another time, thanks for telling me that it`s good,I read 2 reviews of it,one said it was average, the other said it was the best Kramer solo album,so I did`nt know what to believe so I thought I `d ask you.
The Rackateers sound good,Stewart Copeland is a great drummer, used to listen to the Police alot when I was younger, love how he plays the hi hat.August 7, 2001 at 12:47 pm #65462Hey,
Hope you like it when you pick it up, there are some pretty great songs. Thing is it is mixed up between some pretty wicked guitar songs and some of Wayne Kramers spoken word stuff. I am not sold on the spoken word stuff…too much noodling around for me so I just skip over those one
Henry Rollins gives it a big heads up on the back of The Hard Stuff…pretty cool.
Mad For The Racket is ok, the singing all together stuff gets old quickly though…especially with Duff chiming in way too often They list who plays what solo in each song, pretty funny.

August 8, 2001 at 9:48 am #654632Day I Bought Some Fine Tunes:
Gore Slut – STOP
Arab Strap – Here We Go/Trippy
Arab Strap – (Afternoon) Soaps
Hayden – Moving CarefulFinally I’ve Trippy from Arab Strap
I Was Always looking for that TrackHey Allison
I Listened to Some of Your Tips 2Day
But it isn’t My Kind of MusicI listened To Sugar, Bob Mould & Grant Hart
I dont like the Voice of Grant Hart
For Me thats 1 of the Most Important Choices if I like that Band Or Not
I can like the Music but If I dont like the Voice, its Over
So Sorry but Thanks for the TipsAugust 8, 2001 at 11:16 am #65464Spaceboy-sounds like you bought some good stuff,I like Arab Strap too, still have`nt bought anything by them yet.Hayden is ok,did you know 2 guys that play with him play in a band here in Canada called Poledo, named after the song by Lou Barlow on You`re Living All Over Me.
If you did`nt like Sugar/Mould/Hart,that`s ok,like what you like if that`s your taste.I bought a album recently by Spain, the guy`s voice I don`t like too much, but I think after awhile I might like it more.August 8, 2001 at 11:44 am #65465Dooood….Nanci Griffith is very cool. Her sound is pretty polished. I actually dig Gillian Welch quite a bit better….her sound is more haunting and lonely. Thumbs up though….

August 8, 2001 at 12:15 pm #65466Jebus-I love Gillian Welch, bought"Hell Among The Yearlings" last Year,I hope to buy her new album soon;I heard when she went to college in Boston she was into Boston alternative bands,so I assume she likes J.
Nanci is polished I agree but like her tunes anyway.
Have you ever listened to Freakwater?August 10, 2001 at 6:22 am #65467Freakwater are great, especially their "End time" album, love it!. You should also check out a band called "Oh Susanna", their latest album "Sleepy little sailor" sounds like a cross between Gillian Welch and the Cowboy Junkies… I just bought the new "His Name is alive" cd called "Someday my blues will cover the earth" (great title), and it’s the best R&B-album I’ve ever heard….(and that on 4AD records, made by someone who started in a band called Elvis Hitler!)
August 10, 2001 at 11:54 am #65468Thank you,Den Buck for your good taste in music!
I just bought a 7 song EP by Oh Susanna,it sounds great!Canada `s answer to Gillian Welch!
The music store here still does`nt have the new Gillian Welch album yet,so it was great to buy the next best thing!
Can`t find any Freakwater around here,I heard them on the radio and some mp3`s that amazon.com have.My main interest in Freakwater is Janet, she plays also in 11th Dream Day,I only found so far 1 album by them;"Lived To Tell" which is awesome!,they`re a cross between Neil Young,Television,X,Velvet Underground, and of course Dinosaur Jr.They recorded ‘Lived To Tell in a tobbacco barn on a farm in Kentucky!.
I also bought the Replacements-Tim as well,a classic.
Thanks again for the Oh Susanna suggestion,I was worried I may not like them,$15.99 canadian is a lot to risk on an artist you never heard but it worked!
They also had the "Sleepy Little Sailor" album as well,I`ll check out that another time.August 11, 2001 at 10:17 pm #65469Hi Salamiguy,
Glad you liked Oh Susanna. You should also check out their "Johnstown" cd (I think it’s better but a lot darker than "Sleepy little sailor"). Currently listening to a band called Varnaline, cd "Songs in a northern key", a nice "Sparklehorse-light meets Mercury Rev" kind of sound. I heard a song from the new Mercury Rev album (out somewhere next week I think) and it was amazing, looking forward to that album!August 12, 2001 at 9:20 pm #65470Hey,
Just picked up…
Jesus and Mary Chain single…Cracking Up…love that song Rocket
The Heartbreakers…Live At Mothers…Richard Hell was still with them at that point.
Also picked up a couple of tickets to the Erics Trip show in a couple days…. and the coolest little…1/3 the size of my Thumb…Felix The Cat Lighter
Still waiting on the Waisting single…got an email a week ago saying it was in the post….fingers crossed I get it in the am…
