Schooly D – best ofreplacing my hip-hop vinyl collection onto CD’s – scratched the shit out of my records at clubs. Wish I’d bought two copies at the time, coz it’s pretty hard to find some of that shit. Anyone knows where to pick up any Master Ace, 3rd Bass or Kool Moe Dee on vinyl, there’s a reward in it for you.

Couple good songs, Slay/Sway, Receipt (althou this is a big meanie song about Grant Hart) and soundonsound, Semper Fi. The other songs will have to wait, need to get over the trauma from the 1st listen…roller rink music <img> Maybe it will get better after time…hope so. Looking forward to his ego override type acoustic release in september.

Josh Rouse-Under Cold Blue StarsMarch 29, 2002 at 3:45 pm #68703Jon Langford & the Pine Valley Cosmonauts – The executioner’s last songs
Great album, great cause, I feel free to quote the Bloodshot Records website:
Jon Langford and the gang consign songs of murder, mob law, and cruel, cruel punishment to the realm of myth, memory and history. We present to you 18 songs that are as old as the hills (though some were written last week) in order to celebrate/mourn America’s grim fascination with the savage cycle of crime and vengeance, and to raise money and awareness for the Illinois Death Penalty Moratorium Project.
This album has songs by the Louvin Brothers, Hank Williams, Charley Pride, Johnny Paycheck, Cole Porter, Merle Haggard, Stanley Brothers, Johnny Cash, Bill Monroe, and more. Helping PVC out with the vocals are, as usual, a dazzling array of guest stars. Let’s see who we have here: Steve Earle, Brett Sparks of the Handsome Family, the Rockabilly Filly Rosie Flores, Deano from the Wacos, Janet Bean of Freakwater, Lonesome Bob, Neko Case, Johnny Dowd, Edith Frost, Diane Izzo, Rick Sherry of Devil in a Woodpile, Sally Timms, Paul Burch, and more.
We encourage you to revel in the paradox of banishing barbarism while singing its tune. Politics aside, if most benefit/tribute records are a hodge-podge of leftovers, this is a final feast with 18 exquisite courses. A chilling, harrowing, rollicking effort from top to bottom.
If you would like to know about the cause, we’d like to direct to a couple of good sources: The Illinois Coalition Against the Death Penalty at http://www.icadp.org and http://www.deathpenaltyinfo.org In 2001, 13 people in the state of Illinois alone walked off Death Row due to exonerating DNA evidence. We also have a President hailing from a state known for their giddy zeal in carrying out executions. All artists’ proceeds from this record will be donated to the above causes
These death songs are stories passed down, morphed through shifting moralities—their gallows humor and morbid eye for detail dangling them somewhere between legend and current affairs. Enjoy and make a difference.

But that songs is so beautifulMarch 31, 2002 at 12:47 pm #68705The Eric’s Trip show (recorded live 1991 –> 1996)
Like the title says, Eric’s Trip recorded live during various stages of their career, nothing more, nothing less. Sound quality is not alway great (especially the 1996 recordings), but you get an excellent idea how they were live, fine album!
April 1, 2002 at 5:31 pm #68706I’ve just brought this brilliant DVD of Dinosaur jr.
It is called freakscene junior and it is full of all kind of gadgets. You can see J. playing and singing full in the face, but you can also choose to see his hands while playing the guitar. You can mix the whole thing if you want to, so it’s easy to isolate the sologuitar from the rest…I should put this reply on guitarroom as well…moderator help me out!April 2, 2002 at 2:47 am #68707Hey Hansione,
What an amazing find, where exactly did you find something so pleasing, sure there are a couple europeans out there who would die trying to pick that one up!!!
As to forum choice, here is cool, guitar forum would be cool as well. I can’t move single posts so post away if you want.
