saddest song in the world, now there’s a quandry
…just caught that Pirates of the Caribean with Johnny Depp. It was an acident. I stoped through at my friends house to chill for a minute and the play button was simutaniously hit and I was lost in a world of disney magic and pirate plunders. The Disney aspect left for fantastic chase and action sequences that would seem more likely in a cartoon world than our sad non-animated existance. Johhny Depp is cool, but still hasn’t shed his Raoul Duke instincts, much like Bill Murry. I had a good time but couldn’t speak much on the plot, I lost interest when they started talking about pirate codes. I always thought pirates took what they wanted and didn’t ask many questions or follow any rules for that matter, arrrrrr the good life.

Been catching this a bit lately, gotta love the people who take wicked blows/hits but come up smiling every time
always watch with music playing loudly though, the voice over crap is disturbing 
Fav elimination challenge, people running up hill getting flattened by numerous boulders
…I just watched a movie and in a theatre no less. Hadn’t been to that scene in a while, since my move to pittsburgh actually. The film was a sneak preview of "Mona Lisa Smile" starring Julia Roberts, Stiles, and that Kristen Dunst girl. I aquired the tickets/passes at the Craften Library, where i sit so content right now typing away like a subdue maddman. The movie itself was alright. I like being in a theatre and all that atmosphere, we did arrive late, i guess no previews at a sneak peak, but i really wasn’t that excited about seeing the picture as much as going to the movies. The story seemed so much like Dead Poets Society with girls and college instead of boys and prep school. I had a good time, but the expiereence made me want to watch a seriously good movie, luckily i had picked up "the Hours" also from the library, and watched that this morning, being that the movie adventure was last night. The Hours was big. Much going on and to keep straight and to pay off when points converge and credits remove you from the joy of escapism. I love movies, good and bad.
If you love bad movies you should definetely try to get hold of DNA, perhaps or rather probably the worst movie I’ve ever seen. The story is so thin and crippled that you feel the urge to projectile-vomit as it’s played out. The cameramen must be blind leprechauns on speed trying to do their job whilst coming down with the nastiest LSD backflash in mankind. And the actors are as belivable as a 50 year old man pretending not to drool at the topless girls on the beach. It is, to say the least, such a bad film that even Speed 2 comes through looking like a winner. And that’s sayin a lot.
ha, not bad -I managed to talk about that film without using the nastiest words I can think of.

:aliensmile:Saw "Monica in black and white" the other night, a very fine documentary about the Lewinsky/Clinton affair. Didn’t think much it before, but I enjoyed this well-made documentary a lot.
Watched Box of Moonlight recently, enjoyed it, hoped the ending would go somewhere other than it did but

I’ve been seeing quite a bit more things lately. Hopefully i’ll be able to ubdate this enough to do the good justice and the bad the service of dire necesity. Anyway, the funny news is that we got cable both in tv land and in modem connection. My roomate wanted to give his new computer a present and being that before we had no connection whatsoever, this is fun, i even have his old computer in my room now, fun in convience; the cble tv aspect will undoubtable skewe any progress i’ve made in my work. Switching to the graveyard shift freed up time for me to work at work. I go hours with our having costomers the time flies…but that’s another story, on with the reviews gosh darnit your wasting any persons time that even half scaned their way to this point, oh well, what did i see recently? Oh yes, Underworld. Yes friends i didn’t find this vampire/werewolf thriller at the local library, a trip to the video store brought this and the next two titles to me. Underworld was fun as most vampire movies are if you enjoy that sort of thing and i do so let’s move on, i’ve wasted enough of your time already, the second was Trainspotting which i haven’t scene in a while and i have had a hankering to see so that is actually what prompted my trip to the video store and they had trainspotting and it made me smile for oh so many reasons and it is fun about addiction and alll sorts of things i can relate to, next is one hour photo, and let me tell you it kept me on the edge of my seat, well not really but i was interested thoroughout which is all you can ask of a thriller type suspense physcopath type deal. I like movies, cable is evil but we get most Cavs and Bulls gaves in addition to the regular slate on espn tnt tbs and abc. NBA action is fantastic. Comedy, first weekend off in over a month and i’m on the computer friday night early saturday morning, comedy, footabll games to day, time for bed, no adjusting the antenna while Steve McNair leads a team to a field where a really good team resides. I hate those patriots, something just rubs me the wrong way about them, that Bill Billich guy is just too darn good, and tom brady is too pretty boy smile guy, Steve McNair is a warrior, so is Brett Farve, but i bet he goes down in Philly, just a hunch, the rest i could care less about, but go Steve and Brett be warriors, go iverson, thanks comcast
Lost In Translation (which has been talked about here before), finally it came out in German cinemas.
almost completely sold out, so we had seats on the edge of the first row, which made it a very weird experience :aliensmile:…Almost a comedy, or not, quite aimless, quite without action, but very nice, sweet & charming all the way.
The Kevin Shields soundtrack wasn’t very distinguishing at the first view of the movie, but maybe I’ll go there a second time anyway (…a different perspective would be cool
)well, the title is also "Lost in Translation" here, but yes it was dubbed. next I’ll probably go & see the original with subtitles. …they don’t talk much anyway in the movie
Most films you can see here are dubbed, and everything from abroad in tv is either.
I’m dying to see Lost in translation, but my skills at making it to the video store are horrid these daze. Just watched, "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" for the x number of times. Fun film. Slides form a movie about craziness and cocktail parties into a court room drama and you don’t even realize it, one of my friends saya the book is the bees knees but i have no time to read what i’m reading now, so thank gosh darn hollywood for making cool stuff sometimes.
I just watched Secret Window this afternoon, I recommend waiting to check it out at the cheap theatres!
John Turturro is one of my fav actors, main reason for going. Give it a 4/10, so so, more than a little predictable, disappointed actually…oh well, tickets were free
free tickets rule. Just hearing about the theatre expirence makes me jealous, haven’t been in so long, crazy night shift got me seeing stars without screens or sanity.
Did catch the season premeire of South Park last night, best cartoon not featuring Homer Simpson. That show just keeps pushing the envelope. Half of the eposide last night was letter-boxed, which was enough to make me smile. Those kids know and teach me more about the world than the three newspapers i read before 5 am each day. Well, maybe that doen’st make sense and is an intentinal exaggeration anyway, but the show is so smart it makes most tv seem pointless.
March Maddness is heating up, lots of running up and down the hardwood on my tv this month, then NBA playoffs, my eyes are not ready. Brackettollogy, man the world is out of control. I need to get more moblie, warm weather will bring that i hope, until then it’s bad tv and little to write here about, whch is never ture but time is falling out of control, man do i miss letterman. Worst part of night shift, and leaving unfinshed basketball games, plus forgetting to sleep and waking up and not knowing if it is am or pm.
thanks for the tip on Secret Window, doubt i’d go right away to anything these days. I forgot to see Kill Bill, now it won’t come to the cheap theatres, maybe it already did, next vol is soon, no idea if it is good, but Quinten is usually solid. Joh Tuturro is amazing, Barton Fink and Search and Destroy come to mind, i think that was him at least. Movies about authors are tough to pull off. Depp was in another book related film called the Ninth Gate, i actually dug that one, anything about the ultimate struggle of good and evil stirs my intrest.
