watched that Confessions of a dangerous mind tonight. I actually missed 10 minutes or so toward the beginning but still got most of it. Hate missing parts of the movie but can’t help it lately, so distracted these daze. But i walked back in after a brief interlude saying in my mind that if they were still showing it letterboxed i’d watch it anyway even though i missed a bit; being that the very beginning was letterboxed, but sometimes they lure you in with that and then bam, pan and scan. I tell you i’d watch pigeons peek my eyes out if it was letterboxed. Confessions was a fun film. Freakin’ George Clooney directed it though. His career has just been all downhill since he left the Facts of Life. Charlie Kaufman wrote the screenplay so i probably could have directed it and it would have been interesting. Clooney shot alot of it so bright, he was probably going for the spotlight on you tv guy type feel but it just looked stupid at points and i almost turned the brightness down on my tv, but the film itself moves in an interesting way that makes watching it fun and that is the bottom line.

hmmm … i’ve never even heard of that movie … is it new ?

i got some free tickets to see before sunset which is richard linklater’s follow up to before sunrise … actually i had never heard of before sunrise before a few weeks ago, but it didn’t matter that i hadn’t seen the 1st film b/c they talked about it in the new film anyhow …

so yeah … it was a great little film … it’s listed as 80 mins long, but i’d say it was more like 60 mins … which was just the right length as the film mostly consists of the 2 main characters (ethan hawke + julie delpy) walking around paris + catching up w/what eachother has been doing for the last 9 years since they 1st met up in vienna … it was romantic i suppose, but it wasn’t a goofy romantic comedy (thank goodness !) … + the dialogue + the action (if you can call it that) was v.real … this was definitely written by a 30 something person who knows what they’re talking about

I think Confessions of a Dangerous Mind came out last summer, but i could be mistaken, caught it on cable, not even sure if it’s out on video.

Richard Linklater is amazing. Slacker made me too happy and Before Sunrise was romantic comedy perfection. I’m no Ethan Hawk fan either. Can’t wait to see the sequel. I just realized the other day that Linklater did that School of Rock movie with Jack Black, need to see that i guess as well. So many movies so little time…

I just watched The Village :?

I didn’t like it at all, one startle does not make a good movie. Found it to be boring, not very thrilling at all, predictable, & not a tinfoil hat in the whole movie…not a good sign :P

I recommend waiting for the cheap theatres, if at all. Maybe my expectations were too high, I really liked 6th Sense, but every movie since has registered lower on the scale…this one is the lowest ever

I just watched USA basketball get thumped by the spirited TEAM from Italy. They moved the ball and hit open looks while team usa realized that they actually do still call traveling in parts of the world and that shooting is important to scoring against zone defenses. Driving and throwing up garbage doesn’t cut it especially if you can’t hit your free throws. I was worried about the saftey of the teams lives before no i fear for their egos. It’s sad in a way. Back in ’92 and ’96 i found myself rutting for the other teams because i felt bad at how bad we were winning, no the jokes on us. Only a exhibition, but there is serious cause for concern on both ends of the floor.

Dirk and his crew gets their shot tomorrow, 2 pm est…

I just watched Dirk and those guys from German give it their all. Dirk hit a three to tie it with 3 seconds left. I think the camera guy at mid-court was so excited that he botched captian Allen Iverson’s runner at the buzzer from just inside half court. The live feed produced only the ball in the air for a brief scuttled moment; so i watched it actually go in on a floor camera replay several moments later. I love live sports but being there is so much more being seeing for your self brings so much wealth. My eyes are the best camera i’ve ever used.

Germany didn’t even qualify for the Olympics and team usa struggled mightily. Highlight for me was seeing Jan Jagla get his three minutes for the German squad. He spent three solid years at Penn State and although he has chosen to persure basketball in Germany now i still like to see Penn Staters getting it done.

Next stop Belgrade, friday 7pm est espn…

i saw school of rock, but wasn’t really that impressed … i didn’t think it would be such a kiddie film … :|

but anyhow … i just saw i, robot + it was really, good fun … the perfect summer action movie

Just watched the new Tom Cruise movie Collateral… :?

My expectations weren’t high, was at least expecting it to be action packed…it wasn’t, wait for the cheap seats, it shouldn’t take long :!:

Strike 2 for my recent movie choices, fingers crossed the upcoming exorcist show makes up for the last two duds… :P

I just watched a short on the independent film channel called AWOL

It was the story of a burnt out psychiatric nurse working on an adolescent unit. She finally flips out & abandons the unit, ends up trapped in an elevator with a patient. Definitely filmed by someone who has worked in that situation, the constant attendants who just can’t stay awake, the understaffing, being overwhelmed by the chaos,

One of the guys from Broken Social Scene helped score the film

Definitely made me appreciate just how pleasing it is to be on holidays

                      lead actress…Alison Pill

…team USa play a good game finally. I think Serbia Montenegro took us lightly if that is possible. Game sunday and tuesday but i’ll be off tv till :?: :) :D

Olympics around the corner. Love the basketball, but get mezmorized by other events like track and field and water polo.

                        peace

                          Watched a couple hilarious dvd’s last week…

Social Engineering 101-a collection of educational films for students from the 40’s thru 70’s. Chapters on Lunchroom Manners…no one wants to be a Mr Bungle  Soapy the Germ Figher, guy in a soap outfit, not sure why he didn’t have any pants on, he had a shirt, soap, socks & shoes :? They recommended young girls wash they’re hair once every two weeks
The Shy Guy was my fav, very young Dick York follows the leader and becomes popular… :P

You can check out some clips @ avgeeks.com

Sic Days in Roswell-Guy from Minneapolis takes a trip to Roswell, needs to study up on abductions so he can be abducted by aliens. Very silly show, although I’m now considering an extended road trip to Roswell

Saw the Exorcist The Beginning yesterday afternoon, don’t think they meant it to be a comedy,
                              save your money, don’t go…. :P  :?

Some horrible reviews of the show…exorcist panned

Also saw a documentary called Hell House, about a pentacostal Christian church in Texas strange
recruitment technique…scare the crap out of teens to get them to attend church. Scared me, but not in the way they hoped…

…Finally got to watch an olympic basketball game. Reading about their blow out lose to Puerto Rico made me laugh a bit. Funny thing is that they played good today and still lost by four to Lithuania. Shooting is trouble, foul line especially. Once an american player hits a shot they feel like god and hoist up many more everytime they touch the ball, troubles, but still hope if hot streak happens in elimination round next week. Truely embarassing so far though…

…Lost in Translation, finally. It was so much better than anything i’ve scene in a long time. Probably as stimulating as Punch Drunk Love but more accessable on certian levels. I guess there are notsogood moments but it takes all of one good moment to make a film for me and this one has bunches of smiles, like team usa’s blow out victory this morning est, which i also just watched, napping for most of the second half as it appeared to be 1992 for a day at least…
