The new Dead Meadow is supposed to be good. It’s sort of psychodelic so if you’re into that style you’ll probably like it. I saw them open for Super Furry Animals and they were killer live. I don’t like their studio stuff that well but a lot of people do.
March 29, 2005 at 5:25 pm #107878check out OPETH !!!
they will rock your world.. i have never heard such layered melodics in metal since iron maiden. and i love iron maiden…
i’d start with orchid.. you will have to listen to the album all at once though since its like one or two big songs put together…

March 29, 2005 at 7:48 pm #107879The Evens- S/T
Hella- Church Gone Wild/Chirpin’ Hard (Interesting 2 CD’s, kind of neat and crazy)That’s all that I’ve heard this year besides the re-issues and Barlow’s "Emoh"
March 29, 2005 at 9:12 pm #107880Theres this cool little band out called Adam Green, I caught there video on MTV2 the other night, its pretty unusual and I guess thats why I like it

Adam Green
GemstonesMarch 30, 2005 at 9:49 am #107881I suggest a finnish band called ‘Liekki’ to everyone here. It is really interesting, something totally new in Finland. There hasn’t been many artists like this. The lyrics doesn’t make any sense because they are somehow composed to not sound like typical finnish, they sound way better.
April 8, 2005 at 4:07 pm #107882Adam Green is the frontman of Moldy Peaches, download or buy the album.
April 9, 2005 at 4:35 pm #107883The Moldy Peaches are massivly overrated.
And I’ll add a +1 to Hella, but I haven’t heard the new album yet. They play Outkast on it (one member doing each disc). I do have their first album, it’s a total mindfuck.
April 15, 2005 at 2:25 pm #107884hey Rich, like I said some days ago, give Interpol‘s album "Antics" one try, its melancholic beauty is quite plain, and you can decide immediately if you like them or not.
also an easy decision is it with the Thermals, you either like them or not. it’s power pop-punk full of energy, without any aggression. Best you start with the album "More Parts per Million"
Further Blonde Redhead went into my all times greatest list within seconds last year. they’re more quiet but very melodic and I still can’t get enough of all the hauntingly beautiful tunes. I serioesly recommend them. Best you start with the album "Misery is a Butterfly"
As a countermove I’ll give NIN’s new album a serious try (I never really had them on my radar screen before). thanks for the recommendation

April 15, 2005 at 6:46 pm #107885The best song I’ve heard in a long time…
insight by wide awake….
this is the reason I listen to rock… it’s soooo fucking good…

***********
I’m not sure about the whole album, cuz I just listened to a few tracks on a greatest hits album, but rush 2112 would be an idea… I LOVE concept albums… and this shit rocks…
***********
system of a down’s new album(s)… I think this is like the first new wave in a whole new genre in rock… feel good rock… the killers came first with "somebody told me"…I read a quote the singer Brandon Flowers said something like "nobody plays rock you can dance to anymore" and I remember a friend saying back in the 70"s everything was chill… you know? just rockin… but b.y.o.b. is a good fucking song…April 16, 2005 at 12:53 am #107886Snow I’m suprised you didn’t pick informer by the white rapper snow, but anyway I heard the New White STripes Song on K-rock today, and I really liekd it its called
Blue OrchidApril 16, 2005 at 2:51 pm #107887here’s a band from norway that rocks!.it is hard to get their cd’s in the u.s. though … i think in norway honcho means cool and not gay leather s and m dude.
April 16, 2005 at 9:43 pm #107888No informer… but I do want to get a copy of this guy’s album who was on MTV’s live rap contest… His name was Blind Fury and dude was blind… but he fucking rocked!
Jesus Christ Superstar is like on my all-time top five list… that shit rocks!
Do you like Tori Amos? I have a bunch of downloads from easytree and still haven’t gotten around to listening to them all, but am making a ‘greatest hits’… I might could make an mp3 and post it somewhere… or there is http://toritraders.com/”>http://toritraders.com/ – a torrent site for her concerts… I have one from kissimmee ’01 that has the most amazing versions of ‘cool on your island’ and ‘1000 Oceans’, and one from Austin ’94 that has amazingly beautiful versions of ‘purple rain’ and ‘smells like teen spirit’… good shit…
and there is http://noddy.free.fr/bootleg/links.htm..”>http://noddy.free.fr/bootleg/links.htm…
and I don’t know about the whole album, but I heard song 5 off Sigur Ros’ () album and I still remember how beautiful it was..
April 17, 2005 at 12:37 am #107889this year I like
Bright Eyes – wide awake…
Crooked Fingers – Dignity & Shame
The Decemberists – PicaresqueMoldy Peaches are awesome. I don’t like Adam Green’s solo stuff nearly as much as Kimya Dawson’s, she’s great.
Check out Joel RL Phelps. He used to be in silkworm and his music is probably the most emotionally gutwrenching stuff I know, what a voice, and he rocks in a way a dino fan would appreciate
