switching form PC to Mac. I just bought a new iMac and am switching my photos and itunes over. Are ther any tips to getting used to, or learning Mac OS X? I was getting a little frustrated last night trying to figure out how to find shit on that computer. Anyways any tips would be much appreciated.
January 11, 2007 at 11:48 am #124799I really like my iPod, and it seemed that with recording, creating videos, and photo stuff things would be easier. Not to mention they look wicked cool. It has the duo core processor so I may install Windows at some time but who knows. I guess all the integration is why I switched.

You have the magnyfing glass in the thop right corner of the screen, right ? Next to where it tells you the day and time. Press this and type in whatever it is you want to find. Imho, this search function is way better than the one in xp et al.
I’m pretty sure I misunderstood your question, stupid norwegian, but if you have the patience to try to explain it to me, I’ll try to give you a better answer.
Congrats on making the switch ! It can be a bit confusing at first, but once you stop thinking in xp mode it will be a minor revelation.
January 11, 2007 at 2:10 pm #124801Yeah I have the magnifying glass, I guess I don’t like it because I have to use it. On a PC I know where to fing everything, I just haven’t figured it out yeat on the Mac. I did start to get familiar last night with the Finder last night.
January 11, 2007 at 2:21 pm #124802What exactly is it you have trouble finding ?
If you’ve moved files from your pc, you know where you’ve saved them don’t you ?
Or is it stuff allready on there you have trouble sorting through ?The finder is a good starting point, there you’ll see the drives currently available, discs loaded and have access to your documents, music, movies, pictures and applications. Dragging the applications you use the most onto the dock is also wise. And the cool thing is that you can tweak the os to perform just as you want it to, granted that this probably isn’t the first thing you set out to do, at least it wasn’t for me.

January 11, 2007 at 2:36 pm #124803It isn’t actually finding anything its learning how to use whats there I guess. Garageband looks cool, iDVD, iPhoto, and some of the other applications look awesome I just wish I new how to use them. I guess it will just take time to get acclimated to it. I’m kind of bummed I can’t rip Star Wars into iTunes and put it on my iPod. I thought I would be able to. :-

January 11, 2007 at 4:44 pm #124808Robert you are the man! Thanks!
January 12, 2007 at 9:46 am #124809Not sure how to get that stuff you suggested to work Robert, maybe I’ll have time to play around with it this weekend. I did however manage to get my iPod reformatted to Macintosh, and my internet connection figured out. So I’m feeling a whole lot better about things at the moment.
January 12, 2007 at 6:48 pm #124810you use them to convert the dvd files you’ve ripped into a format that makes the ipod happy.
January 12, 2007 at 7:42 pm #124811Oh, I’m still trying to figure out how to rip them. :-
January 13, 2007 at 2:34 pm #124812maybe this will help ?
