is that a trumpet in the song I’m insane? or is it a guitar with some weird effect?

if its the later, can someone tell me the effect and where I can find tabs for it?

by the way, Dinosaur Jr. is quickly becoming one of my favorite bands. although I’ve only heard about 7 songs by them, I loved every one of them.
