Can anyone recommend good radio stations available on the internet? I finally got speakers on my work computer , but I have only found a couple of stations I like.

Well…. it looks like it is down for now. Bookmark it and try again later.

jeremiahFebruary 16, 2001 at 5:21 pm #63442Hey DFK,
If your a fan of Bob Mould at all here is a link to a site that plays his stuff 24 hrs a day. Some of the live stuff is pretty raw but they play everything from Husker Du, Sugar and tons of solo stuff.

ps we should start a campaign for a similar station with nothing but Mascis all day. That would be pretty cool.
February 16, 2001 at 5:54 pm #63443All Mascis, all day – I really like the way you think, Allison! In my search for a decent station, that actually entered my mind, too. There used to be a Beck radio show on the net (I don’t think it was 24-7), but I think it went down a while back. Jeremiah – what would someone need to do all Mascis, all day?
February 17, 2001 at 1:49 pm #63444Expect a full blown mascis/dino station before long.
This one is set up for a min connection of 28.8 so almost everyone can hear it.
It is 4 hours + of music + interviews

jeremiahFebruary 17, 2001 at 3:24 pm #63445Thanks for the directions to the triple J thing. The Live365 site is also where the Bob Mould station is that Allison mentioned, but I can’t get to it from work. I tried to follow the directions to make it work with a firewall, but when I look at my settings, there is no Proxy server info (I am on a LAN) so I can’t check that station from there. Jeremiah, do you know of any fix? Is that where the J station will be?

February 17, 2001 at 3:42 pm #63446Hey,
God I was just joking, never thought it would happen….very cool!!! The definitive No Crap Radio. I kept missing unwrittenjar on napster even with the bit from napigator.
Always a Real Cool Time coming to this site,
Allison
ps DFK good luck working out the firewall deal
February 17, 2001 at 3:43 pm #63447The only way I can get it to work @ work is to use Windows Media Player or the Live365 Player.
Windows Media Player is generally firewall friendly because it shares the IE settings to connect to the web.
Have you tried those?

February 18, 2001 at 12:42 am #63450Hey DFK,
If you get to check out live365 for the Bob Mould station don’t forget to search the rest of their stations. None will beat Jeremiah’s stuff but there are some pretty cool stations…Cavern Radio..Stones Yardbirds, Kinks and Animals. As well they have a pretty cool Phil Spector station, Spectropop. Tons of alt/punk stations as well, so good luck.
Allison
http://www.geocities.com/spectropop/frameset1.htmlabove is the link to the spectropop site, you can link up to the radio station thru them as well.

if you don’t find what you are looking for, ask for itFebruary 21, 2001 at 3:46 pm #63454Allison and Jeremiah – thank you so much!!! So many stations to listen to now I just don’t know what to do! Of course, mostly I have stuck to the mascis stuff, so far. Great suggestions. I finally got the Live365 stuff playing at work and it doesn’t suck near as much to be here! I am so happy . I don’t know how I existed before I found Freakscene. You guys are the best! We oughta have some sort of reunion somewhere, sometime and all party together. Maybe, next tour we can pick a sorta central location and work on that (Jeremiah…. you aren’t already working on that are you?).
