Alright, everybody who hasn’t introduced themeslves. . .do so here!

I am: Malcom/Evil Malcom, the imfamous poster of the self obsessive "Malcom Report" series.

I like: Asian women, girls with cute tummies, My "good friend" Amanda, Chuck Taylors, Dinosaur Jr., =W=, Pavement, Jazz, The Pixies, My Bloody Valentine, Spoon, Primus, Yo La Tengo, DC Punk, Sonic Youth, Radiohead, Luscious Jackson, Avril Lavigne (but not her music), Geeky Girls, shopping for secondhand clothing, Playing guitar, shopping for guitars, Making fun of Hot Topic, Shopping at Hot Topic, Indie Record stores, looking at guitars, trying to start bands, starting progects I’ll never finish, looking in the windows of peoples cars, lurking on Message boards, working at the library, and every last member of this site (even those who never post).

I like (about me): nothing atall, wait, I like my Glasses, and my chuck taylors.

I dislike about me, everything, especially my hair, I have a pseudo-afro, I always threaten to cut it, but then some cutie always says I shouldn’t. sigh. . .

I’m also loudmouthed, ignorent (although people say I’m smart), unsuccessful with women (20 years, no girlfriend), unfunny (unless I fall), arrogent, and have ADD. . .

Alright folks, now It’s yer turn!

Hey Malcom, thanks a lot for the introduction :)
It’s always nice to learn more about the other board members, and I really like the ‘Malcom Report’ series – in my opinion it should be printed sometimes… :P

I also never introduced myself properly, and I actually thought about to catch up on it… so, before I never do it, I take the opportunity now – after 2 years
Maybe you’ve already seen that pic – and don’t have to wonder anymore, whether I’m female or male ;)
I’m thereabout thirty & I live in Hamburg – a cold and windy, but nevertheless nice & quite big seaport city in Northern Germany. I work in the customer service of an insurance company, but that’s not what I’ve learned – I never started anything with my M.A. grade in anthopology, however

I first heard Dino in the late eighties on the radio: ‘Let it Ride’, and I thought, WTF, is that a Bon Jovi parody? …oh no, it’s much better! It’s actually the music I’d like to listen to. I bought Bug then (one of the last vinyls I ever bought), and I never stopped to love Dino: although I didn’t follow them continuously, I never dropped them either. I really got into J Mascis’ music again with that fantastic Fog gig in Dec. 2000 – that was the time, when I entered this board, too

I actually never really loved all the other ‘real grunge music’. But I liked (& still like) Hüsker Dü, Pavement, the Pixies, Sonic Youth. My real love was (and still is) with My Bloody Valentine, Jesus & Mary Chain, the Fall, Gun Club, the Go-Betweens … and there are Modest Mouse, Built to Spill and Sleater Kinney who entered my ‘all time greatest’ list. Surely I forgot a lot, though… :|

I think, the introduction of the ‘unintroduced’ it’s a very good suggestion, and I hope that there will be some more…

          Good idea Malcom!

den Buck comes from a small town in the south of Holland, 2 miles from the German border, but nowadays he spends most of his days in Amsterdam, working (as a contracter) in the software department of a big bank in Amstelveen during the daytime, visiting gigs, drinking the odd beer and playing some snooker with Hansione during the evenings.

As a software eningeer working as a contracter I’ve also been working a lot outside of Holland, for example: I spent more than a year in Frankfurt working for the Lufthansa, and nearly a year in Seattle for the Boeing company.

I started listening to (and buying) music seriously when I was studying at Eindhoven University, and luckily that was the time that punk broke, so I am still the proud owner of a lot of very rare vinyl….

Picked up Dinosaur Jr. around "Freak Scene", which was a huge radio-hit on Studio Brussel, (then) an excellent radio station, and been following Dinosaur (and J.) ever since. Stumbled across this board (just like FC) sometime after the J. & the Fog gig in the Melkweg in Amsterdam.

Well as some of you might have noticed, there is quite a lot of music that den Buck likes, it ranges roughly from stuff out of Scandinavian garages, via (P-)Funk, via (dub-)reggae, via lo-fi singer/songwriters, to…….. 8)
(the only type of music that den Buck has trouble getting into is jazz…. )

All-time favourites: Dinosaur Jr., the Clash, JAMC, MBV, Sonic Youth, Pavement, Husker Du, Young Marble Giants, Low, dEUS, Steve Wynn

Bands/artists I like that aren’t that well-known: Freakwater, Gingersol, Julie Doiron, Dead Man Ray, Norfolk & Western, Transmissionary Six, the Mountain Goats

hi! I’m Long Distance Drunk. I have also been know as Kissing Just For Practice and Hit the Wine. My real name is Dan. I hail from Pittburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. Currently I reside in the lonesome crowded western suburbs of Washington, DC. I work for a small publishing company, and get to wear jeans and blue pumas to work. I spend alot of time in traffic as well.

I got into Dinosaur Jr after seeing them open for Neil Young in 1993. So loud, I just had to check them out. Even got to meet and party with Murph while he was playing with the Lemonheads.

My other favorite bands include: Guided by Voices, Sleater-Kinney, the Karl Hendricks Trio, Modest Mouse, Built to Spill and Ben Folds.

In my free time (which isn’t much) I like to drink, chase scenestresses, take chemicals, start farm equiptment, and go to shows. I also enjoy football (american), basketball, and hockey.

            Participant

Well, you guessed it, my real name is Carl. I am 29. No sense in trying to hide my identity on a board of fellow Dino/J fans, right?

Can not remember when I got into Dinosaur jr, but it was around the time that Green Mind was released.. I think a friend of mine turned me on to them (him), and I have never looked back well, maybe for a time, see below). Thumb did it for me!!!!

I am a recovering (recovered? who can tell?) meth/LSD addict.. Been clean for over 8 1/2 years now (May 15, 1994). During the time of trying to put my life back together, music seemed to take a back seat (Why? I have no freaking clue). So when I rediscovered music again, I rediscovered my love for Dino/J.

I currently am a computer dork, technically, my work revoloves around enterprise storage.

I reside in the city of Huntington Beach, CA, where on Dec. 31 it is currently sunny, and will hit about 61 degrees F (16C).

My all-time favorite bands include: Janes Addiction, Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Dinosaur Jr./J, Pink Floyd.

Currently I am fan of: Modest Mouse, Deathcab for Cutie, GBV, J, YLT..

I just wish the Los Angeles radio stations actually played those bands.

And I enjoy watching hockey, hockey and more hockey. In fact, I have subscribed to NHL Center Ice, so I can watch even more hockey. If I had to choose a 2nd favorite professional sport to watch, it would be American football, followed in a distant 3rd by baseball then basketball. Needless to say, my g/f does not like it. But what can I do???

I do also enjoy watching college football and basketball.

What else? Hmmm, beyond that I am actually pretty boring. I am also responsible (???, me???) for raising a 13 y/o son. Biologically hers, realisitcally ours..

              and Malc.. great topic..

              HAPPY NEW YEAR EVRYONE.

              Carl.

Shit , I did this in bits in pieces at one time all the time, bleed me running…

Name’s Tom. Am originally a south suburban Chicagoan. It used to mean something to "claim" the city, but with the fact the area code exclusivity used to sequester city elite from ‘burbees fell prey to cellularitis, it’s all one big slum again. Currently I live in Elkhart, In, a town about 20 minutes from South Bend, IN, home to Notre Dame, my school Indiana University South Bend, The College Football Hall of Fame and another slum that is bordered in outlying cities by poor, humble Amish and wealthy NIMBY Mennonites.

I am about a year away from getting my Bachelor’s in Education with a minor in Government, making me able to teach both. I have tried to share some of my interests here with this thing called the poetry thread. Several people have contributed and made it one of the points of attraction this board has to offer.

As of this year, I turned thirty years old. I joined the U.S.M.C. out of high school in 1990 and served a four year term. In between, I was able to fully realize through consequence some flaws in the way I lived life. Like CarlDOT, I am currently in recovery, but for booze, going on five years. Unlike Carl, I have no kids. I swore them off before I did alk, but I am warming to the idea, but the type of heat currently going on in my house has nothing to do with women or landlords, it is fucking kersosene. As Albini said, "it’s something to do."

I have also been employed going on 7 years at a private child support collection agency. I regularly attempt to to liberate money from people who have accumulated tens of thousands of dollars in back child support. Sometimes, we can even get money like that in lump sums, which is always great. My work’s website addy is http://www.childsupportrecovery.com. When I am not at school, I am usually at work or at home doing schoolwork. It’s a sad pun, but a pretty lucky life.

I got into Dino back in 1991-92. I was listening to FEN, the Far East Network radio station while in Okinawa, Japan with the Marines. While sucking down some paint fumes, I think, I heard Puke+Cry. Never had I heard such power mixed with a smooth drawl like that, with melody and harmony to boot. I went as far as getting Green Mind, Where You Been and disliking the overplay of Feel the Pain, to time-out from Dino for a few years. One day, while trying to think of something cool on the Net, I ended up here. I think that means I did the right thing.

Hobbies? Fishing, playing basketball, writing, cooking, reading, listening to J and now Modest Mouse, Built To Spill, Sleater-Kinney, Sparklehorse, bluegrass, Naked Raygun, The Bomb, Johnny Cash, White Stripes, Grateful Dead (if Greg Ginn could admit to digging them why can’t anyone else in this punk society ?) Joni Mitchell and others.

Oh yeah, I have a grating personality and don’t really care if you write me off as a whole. You could even say ignoring me is trendy, attractive and pretty easy to pick up, if you try. If you want to chat, I am easy to reach, but I also really do not care for pleasantries masked as social grace. Say what you must to me, as I will be kind, but fair with you in the same way. Oh and feel free to take any underyling motives or detached "cool" facades and share them with the folks who that shit originates from, lest I be forced to nap out mid-convo.

Happiest of New Years, I am going to go watch Barney :slap:

I never properly introduced myself, so it is a good idea to open this topic.
My name is Hans(ione) and I am 27 for the past 15 years. I live in Amsterdam…lucky me (take a look at I just bouht tickets for…topic)I am working at a big bank, the same as Db is working. I am a manager Facilities, which in fact means that I am trying to make the working conditions for Db perfect, a lot of work….
My passion is music, not only to listen to but also to play. I am playing in band, doing all kind of covers, from Beatles to Stones, the Band to Frampton. AOR they call it I think (no dino-covers so far) My bands are, no name a few: Band, Beatles, Miles Davis, Tom Waits, Eels, Steve Earle, QOTSA, Calexico, Garbage, Mercury Rev, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Ryan Adams, Ron Sexsmith, Sonic Youth, Pumpkins, Coldplay.
I am not a big Dino-fan  , in fact I have bought my first Dino-cd after I entered this board. I think that is why you can find me mainly on the open-topic. After listening to Bug I realized that J is really gifted. I think he has put a lot of emo in his songs and he plays fantastic guitar. What I like so much in this board is the attitude of the members. There is a lot of “wink wink kind a sense of humourâ€

some people call me rosa. some call me the Gangster of Love. I have the same birthday as Jeremiah, Gillian Anderson, and Kurtis Blow, but they’re all much older than me

I sing. I play guitar, but not as well. I write every day and occasionally some of it is brilliant. I don’t visit freakscene as much as I used to for various reasons, but I still check back for J news and poetry, and I’m in close touch with a few members off-site who send me awesome Christmas cards and quirky gifts.

as of this past winter I have eliminated animals completely from my diet, with seafood having been the one thing that prevented that for the past five years. my new year’s resolution is to eat vegan more often, although I have not yet made a firm commitment because I live for cheese fries and dr pepper.

I have one sister, younger, who is in art school and outshines me in every way. I have one cat who also outshines me in every way. my dad is a brilliant but stubborn man who votes libertarian and who sold out to live with a dumb, shrewish woman in financial devastation. my mom is a brilliant but flighty woman who recently organized (and is currently attending) a conference called ‘The Science and Religion Conversation in Post-Communist Eastern Europe’ as part of her earning two (more) simultaneous college degrees.

I was born on the Navajo reservation in Arizona but I grew up primarily in upstate New York. my parents divorced when I was about five, and I’ve spent time living with each of them separately over the years. after being bumped up a grade in elementary school, I graduated high school at sixteen, around the middle of my class. I was not an athlete, a scholar, a model, or an artsy kid, but I did edit our high school paper during my senior year, and got into a lot of trouble shooting my mouth off. I also got most of the lead solos in high school choir. I dated musicians who inevitably dumped me for more promiscuous girls. I had one friend in my graduating class whose daughter is now my godchild. I had another friend a few grades below who has since gone off the deep end into schizophrenia and mock bisexuality. I basically didn’t hang out with anyone else until my senior year, where I met some of my current best friends on the newspaper staff. my teachers always told me ‘if you would just apply yourself, etc etc’. they also all predicted that I’d go to law school.

I relied heavily on music and writing to get me through high school. I wasn’t a miserable kid but I had a big head and always felt slightly superior to most of my classmates (despite the fact that they tormented me on a daily basis). I also had to place myself at the top, mentally, because everyone else was placing me to the side, which was just not acceptable. I lived in undereducated rural farm towns, but my parents were more metropolitan, having grown up in liberal cities like Boston and New York, and they instilled in us those inclinations and curiosities.

I took a year off after high school, then went to college. I hated college more than I’ve ever hated anything ever and I quit after two years.

I’ve done lots of traveling in the states and Europe. currently I live in San Francisco where I’m working retail at night to pay the bills, and bolstering my voice and writing during my off hours. I live about fifteen minutes away from the beach, though it is a cold beach that generally requires a hat and sweatshirt, and I spend time there when I need a respite from cell phones and dirty air. I miss things about living in the country, like crickets and clean air and humble technology, but I do enjoy the tiny screening rooms and Asian restaurants and intimate clubs that San Francisco has to offer. my favorite urban activity is prostitute watching. I’m fascinated by prostitution– psychologically, sociologically, anthropologically. I want to do some kind of project that involves interviewing the prostitutes in San Francisco but all the girls/boys are very suspicious of friendly white women.

I don’t know what else. I have a very SMALL collection of beanie babies. I have pictures of Eddie Vedder, Marilyn Manson, and David Blaine on my walls. I have a 1967 Gibson acoustic that was given to me by an older man who used to watch me play at open mics in New York. he was a semi-crazy guy with wild hair who collected disability from a factory-related injury and spent it all on guitars and booze and whatever else. he said ‘just promise me you’ll keep singing.’ I’ve worked in restaurants, cubicles, and retail. I feel like I owe it to all the brilliant people back home in Bumfuck, NY to succeed in California, because it’s an opportunity that probably none of them will ever have. for the purpose of this autobiography I counted, on my fingers, the number of times I have seen J Mascis perform and I came up with eight. I’m a former smoker. I don’t ascribe to any religion. I have no piercings other than my ears, and no tattoos, though I might like one on my arm someday. I am single, but I have a finicky ex who occasionally claims to want to get back together. I like red wine. I’m vehemently opposed to fertility treatment. I like brilliant, ambitious, unconventional men. I have little patience for small talk. I’m 99% heterosexual. I’m knock-kneed. I had braces from ages 13 to 15. I have nice arches in my feet.

                          the end.

I’m 28. you can have a participle of a verb following of a la "I grow tired of skiing" or "I have memories of you" or "I have heard of it"

I am brilliant, ambitious and unconventional  . I left uni in Bristol after dropping out of a law and languages degree and bought a company. I ran that for 4 years, sold it and moved to London, promptly spanking all the cash on booze and pot. have since changed jobs about every year, and am now a director of a subsid of a large Japanese VC/investment bank.

I like snowboarding but have just come back from the most disappointing holiday of my life in Whistler. no snow, lots of rain but rivers of booze, and everyone in Vancouver was very nice. Although living in London, I’m sure that people from every other country would seem nice.

i also like music, playing guitar, drums, bass and singing.

booze wise, I’ll drink anything, but prefer single malt irish whiskeys, absinthe, or gin. i don’t believe in ice or mixers.

i may have a drinking problem, but catch me at the right time and i can be quite friendly.

i hate bad music. and television.

i like dry senses of humour. i don’t like words with more than 8 letters and think that they should be banned.

i have a nice collection of wigs and like to scare people. my most recent makes me look like a taller far less gay Elton John and I may wear it on my next date. i am just about finished my ladyhating stage after a terrible break up two years ago, and am courting again.

                            i like dogs.

It’s taken me some time to figure out who I am… :P

I’ve been 27 for awhile now as well

I’m also brilliant, ambitious & unconventional  :P

I have worked in Child & Adolescent Acute Psychiatric Assessment for several years. I started out working towards a BA in Psychology, figured out quickly I didn’t want to go on to grad school, decided to get into something more practical. I am the nurse in black, Psychiatric Nurse actually  I had to live away from home at this huge institution for a couple years, I did two programs simultaneously…the nursing & continued the University program. It was a very small town, with very little to do so it seemed like a good idea  It was actually, love what I do, it can be very challenging at times, on a number of levels, but for the most part in a good way :!: My major interest involves 1st episode Psychosis, new program opening here in the next year I hope to be a part of 8) I have transferred my BA credits into another Psych Nursing Degree program out of province, continue to work at that slowly, it is frustrating at times but I keep telling myself it’s worth the trouble

Love music, J tops my list. Played guitar badly for awhile, very very loudly :!: NFL/Chicago BEAR fanatic, also enjoy watching tennis, competitive swimming (Hey! I still hold a few records  ) snow boarding, & canine cliff diving  Love to grow flowers, hate to get my hands dirty though & the bugs creep me out  Big fan of some classic films, almost anything by Hitchcock, old horror films, goofy movies like The Royal Tennenbaums, Rushmore, saw a bit of more than a few of us in Ghost World. Read a lot, but the geek in me is drawn to books about what I do/science related stuff. Collect Betty Boop stuff, Popeye, Looney Tunes, Pee Wee Herman stuff…my goal is to have my kitchen look like Pee Wee’s Playhouse 8) Carnivore, pretty good cook when I actually focus on it. Peach Hot Hot Pepper Grilled Chicken turned out to be one of my better experiments

Love to achieve an altered state every now & then, Tanqueray Gin & Tonic is my all time favorite thing…followed closely by Asheton Specials, shooters of all kinds, and….*gasp* light beer  Absinthe is also a cool thing, love that licorice flavour :!:

I do have a certain someone…Voodoo Guy He does something similar to me, more on a longterm basis. He’s a drummer, & J’s assessment of drummers definitely is true in my opinion :P He primarily works with developmentally/physically challenged kids, he started a band with them at the school he works at….they do a wicked version of Louie Louie 8) He loves The BEARS, Hellacopters, J etc…he still hates Modest Mouse though

Love to travel, haven’t done enuf of it recently…that has gotta change :!: Been to europe, travelled thru the states more than a bit. Lived in Canada all my life, close enuf to the border to make quick trips to check out record stores/shows.

I love this place for pretty much the same reasons Hansione mentioned, have met some great people here…hope to actually meet in person someday but Hey!

From Norway, a country with a shitload of oil and fish.

I’ve studied film and media, now I’m studying PR. To my parents utter disappointment since I didn’t study economy(unsure if it’s the right term in english,) start working for my dad and eventually take over the company.

Got a younger sister, 19. She’s great, but too pretty, thus popular among the boys and that worries me. Know it’s stupid, but I think it would be best if my sister were locked away until her midfourties.

My knees are wrecked due to snowboarding, skateboarding and Tae Kwon Do. Other than that I’m in good working condition, physically.

Some stuff that makes me happy:

                                Friends.
                                Meeting people that I like.
Suddenly meeting people that I’ve thought of, and hearing that they’ve thought of me as well.
Discussions. Face to face. Not on a bbs such as this.
Words and sentences. I also enjoy writing them down. Sometimes I feel that they create a sort of rythm. That makes me happy. Some folks(publishers) have tried to buy my sentences to put them on pages and try to sell them. I don’t think anybody else could have any use of them, so I’ve declined. Also, there’s so many sentences out there, so if they’re so keen on them they could make some themselves. Would be cheaper for them.
                                Painting, oil and water colors.
                                Singing. Fast.
                                Listening to music.
Jumping up and down while listening to music.
Lying on the floor while listening to music.
                                Old VW’s.
Waking in the morning, then falling alseep again.
                                Beer and white russian.
                                Hope.
Coming home to my parents, beeing greeted by Shimo and Tokyo(our Akita Inu’s(japanese dogs))
Unexpectant phonecalls from friends that just want to say hi, then immediately hangs up again.
                                A lot of other things.

Also, girls like me, they’ve always done that. I’ve never really understood why, and it makes me a bit uncomfortable at times. I’ve had 3 girlfriends that are absolutely lovely persons. And though things didn’t work out, I still like them a lot and appreciate the times we’ve had. Saying that, I’ve done the ladyhating thing together with Javro for a while, but it got fixed by lots of booze and fooling around.

I only do the things that I want to.
I’m a wierd combination of shy and cocky.
I’ve got two tattos. A smurf on the right, lower, side on the front of my hips that laughs and points down at my penis. And the Lacoste Crock on my left breast.
My grandfathers killed nazis, I’ve killed the larger parts of my braincells and a badger(it ran into my car.)

Hi. My name is anne. Um, I don’t do much. I work in a warehouse, as a clerk–full time, for now. I am attempting to finish my B.F.A.–major in Electroacoustic music and a minor in Creative Writing. I write a bit here and there, but nothing special. I have been writing songs since 1995. I will attempt to perform in one of my favorite coffee houses, here, in Montreal, hopefully by spring. Even though I am too old to have them–I still do–dreams, that is, and performing and singing in public is one of them. I would like to travel and/or to have kids–whichever comes first, or at all. I like listening to a wide range of music(s), but, that’s an expensive taste these days. My family branch comprises of my brother and my parents. This is my life people!!! Anyone want to trade?
