Rosa- that’s probably the word Tony was looking for…it was originally used to describe calfs of mixed breed…how it got applied to people, who knows.
AGAP- nice call on the "canadian" profile
Tony- I don’t aprove of anyone using N*gg*r

As long as racial profiling continues to exist, in any form, wether solely for documentation or to the opposite side of the spectrum i.e. racial slander, we can not move forward as people. As long as we continue to point out our differences, we lose sight of our sameness-HUMAN

I figured you were just playing around but it does bring up a very intersting point

My point exactly-as long as you continue to describe yourself a certain way then you will forever be that. It’s a self-fulfilling prophecy.

I still don’t understand your shocked smiley’s next to my name about 7 posts back. I need clarity to achieve a harmoniously balanced self…

Rosa– Good call on the term considerations. Kurt is right, also. If you use the term whether or not there is an object within shouting range, perpetuation of the stereotypes goes on. Granted we can’t make it go away individually or even in small groups. Cultural pragmatism is the mostly likely solution. Now that we have found each and every person their title, how about we each make sure they have their own land and means to use it in "pursuit of happiness"?

Allison— Suppose I could play wheel of misfotune and spin this abberation back to centeredness, but nah, will leave you to your labors..

My opinion on the eek smilies from tony signifying anything, you have to know Kurt not to ask somethings…..

Just so happens my school is putting on a two day seminar called Conversations on Race. Guess there will be workshops and stuff. I am going to attend. Originally, I was going to go and get points for a class but you wonderful people here have inspired me again. Planning to see where this thread goes and print it out and take with fir some Q and A I hope. Also, the keynote speaker on Sat. night will be a certain U.S. Rep John Lewis from the State of GA. I guess he pulls for the Jackson Co area there. Know him, Tony?

Hey Half,

What school do you attend? And what other speakers will be there?

I minored in Race Relations when I was in college, & am thinking about taking up a couple classes to pursue that some more (if I can scrape together the $$).

The Conference sounds interesting; I’d be interested in hearing a little more about it, if you have time.

Take care,
Rosa

since we’re on the topic of race…
Today in class I saw Martin L. King’s "I have a dream" speech in it’s entirity. Spectacular and mesmirizing. Dr. King was an excellent speaker and this one really rings home!

ELJ-we don’t need no stinkin’ philo-forum! Just keep posting on threads like this one.

Tommyboy-I was just interested in what exactly Tones meant, but hey, I’ll take yer advice and let it slide…

Peace, kurtis

Hey Jaron,

Feel free to start a art/philo thread in open topic, not forum material yet.

Indeed, the right-aligned icons are very un-shui. And my board is no longer centered. And actually, I miss the foggy icons. They reminded me of the Billie Jean video; lit up when you touched em.
