        Matthew Sweet-Earth
        Black 47-Home of the Brave
        Bjork-Post
        Smashing Pumpkins-Siamese Dreams

All were used except the Belle and Sebastian. The store had a copy of Shudder to thinks 50000 BC, but I didn’t get it, maybe Tues.

Malc-Shudder`s 50 000 BC is their most "sell out" album being slickly produced but is worth hearing,if you do get it don`t write it off as crap,it does grow on you after awhile 8) it sounds like Journey,Kenny Loggins,Queen, and King Crimson in a blender   be on the lookout for Pony Express Record,I think that`s their best one,the production is big on that too but the music is more out there prog punk and less pop then 50 000 BC.There`s also the First Love Last Rites soundtrack with a ton of guests like Liz Phair,Jeff Buckley,Billy Corgan,Robin Zander,John Doe,Alan And Mimi from Low(with Craig imitating Neil Diamond which is really funny  )etc.

James P. Johnson – King of the Stride Piano 1918-1944

Found this in a scramble bin. It’s on this Giants of Jazz label that usually puts out jazz in an Immortal COncert type series. I have Miles, Mingus, and Rollins additions of this series. This is the first studio Giants of Jazz cd I’ve found but I recomend the series, all of which I’ve found in clarence sections for around 5 dollars.

James P. Johnson was the stride piano king. I guess the title gave that away. The cd is in reverse order with the newest stuff first. The last track is a "Runnin’ Wild" Medley and it is almost 7 minutes of piano maddness through old hits including the Charlestion, which Johnson himself composed, or at least the cd leads me to believe that. Some of the newer tunes are accompanied with light drumming, but for the most part this is solo piano, the most beautiful sounding instrument out there.

"You’ve got to be Modernistic" was his hit, and the only song I heard before buying this disc. I have it on a cd that came with the book to a jazz class I took in school. "Over the bars" is another original that is almost as good as it’s title

His covers include a killer Ain’t Misbehavin and delightful trip through R. Irving’s Eccentricity.

                I dig piano.

Likeaghost-the Giants Of Jazz series is really good I agree,I`ve bought a number of things on that label by Phil Woods,Gil Evans,Miles,Mingus,Stan Getz, etc.
James P was Fats Waller`s mentor, very important pianist in early jazz and a big influence on Duke Ellington;he did`nt always do solo piano, there`s some songs with a band in the early 1930`s.
If you see Thelonious Monk`s London Sessions around sometime, check that out,he does some James P type stride stuff on it 8)

It’s been a bit so let me clear my throat

                          That’s better.

Led Zep- Physical Graffiti and House of the Holy (ass rock fetish)

Nick Cave – Nocturama (Powerful and precise. I agree with the press release that it contains many of the other albums’ best qualities.)

R.L. Burnside – Mississippi Hill Country Blues (Raw, Hooker-like, but more harmonius. Excellent!!!)

Luther Allison – Blue Streak (Chicago-style slick bar blues.
Very produced, but Luther played the hell out of a guitar. RIP)

Neil Young – Live Rust (Wanted to get Arc-Weld again, but too much $$$. This is a good cheaper substitute.)

Mazzy Star – She Hangs Brightly (More bluesy than So Tonight that I Might See . Hope in her strongest voice.)

The Essential Willie Nelson s/t (Every damn Willie song I never heard seems to be on here. This was released to commemorate his recent {April} 70th birthday. I hope he is around for a while longer. What a talent.)

The Distillers s/t (Still not done with it yet, but so far Brody Armstrong can really holler! 1/2 this band is now with Exene in Original Sinners. I can see why. They can flat out play.)
