September 2, 2002 at 3:03 pm #71677Hey Mattman i love RHCP!…Their new album is great…
September 6, 2002 at 7:41 am #71678Well, its funny how different people have different views in catagories of music. The most shocking one in this topic is that Joy Division are termed as ‘goth’. No no no no!!
There music is definately dark and atmospheric but not goth.
I come from the town where they are from ( macclesfield ) and New order still record on at a studio on the outskirts of the town.
I hope this clears up any confusion!!
I like RHCP too.
I notice that swervedriver are mentioned too with JAMC, does any one remember LOOP?September 6, 2002 at 12:11 pm #71679Mikeey-I remember Loop!I bought their A Gilded Eternity album some years back, good stuff in the shoegazer vein.
Some folks might remember Loop from the Neil Young tribute The Bridge, they covered Cinnamon Girl.September 6, 2002 at 7:24 pm #71680Mikeey I agree completely about what a waste of time labels are! Loved Joy Division, definitely dark & moody…even more than the cure
Someone mentioned The Damned as goth as well, gotta clarify a bit on that, Damned Damned Damned, Music For Pleasure & Machine Gun Etiquette are the farthest thing from the "goth thing" around. The singer is a living vampire so can understand people thinking that, but the Captain was either naked or wearing a pink feather suit at the same time so… The Phantasmagoria stuff and on definitely could be put into that category though, don’t listen to that myself.
So labels/categories…don’t bother
AllisonSeptember 6, 2002 at 8:09 pm #71681Speaking of Joy Division, does anyone have that new Interpol album yet?
September 12, 2002 at 12:59 am #71682ok, I got it and I like it. Sometimes he sounds like Ian Curtis, but it’s not a big deal. It’s not like listening to Joy Division but not. If you’re tired of the White Stipes, check this out. And it’s cheap, too.
September 12, 2002 at 10:09 am #71683Who reckons that the guitarist from the Hives looks like Ian Curtis?! Hes got those same piercing eyes.
September 13, 2002 at 11:10 am #71684I`ve heard one song from the Interpol album,I agree he sounds like Curtis, was`nt that impressed with it though.
