I felt this was the most appropriate forum

As a guitarist/drummer/sometimesbassist and a huge fan of J’s, I was wondering about his drumming setup. He always talks about his guitar junk, but not really about his drums. Does he have a favorite shell or cymbal brand, a type of head he uses most often, or hell, a favorite drumstick variety?
It would be cool if someone knew.
July 20, 2006 at 9:28 pm #119302in a 97 interview.
he said he uses Zildjian cymbals.
22 inch K jazz ride and then 22 inch K preaged light ride, 20 inch dark crash, 15 inch K new beat and 20 inch Chinaboy low.

an 18 inch K dark crash would set me back $260…maybe another time

yea…when the woman started dancing i was like *closes out*. J is a kickass drummer though. He says he never really studied guitar theory but studied drums alot.
July 21, 2006 at 8:18 pm #119306J is an incredible drummer. My favorite Dinosaur Jr concert moment(and there are many) was on the Hand It Over tour. It was at a show in Detroit, where Mike Johnson took over on guitar, his wife at the time took over bass(she was in a band called Juned, and was actually a damn good bass player), and J completely kicked ass on the drums. They played a few of Mike Johnsons songs from his second album.
It was funny, when J got behind the drums, he started twirling the drumsticks, and had a big smile on his face.
July 22, 2006 at 2:27 pm #119307im not much of a drum guy, but i can tell a good drummer when i see’em. id like to see witch live. which he plays drums for. i put on shows around my area, so i might try to get in touch with their booking agent. or come to a close show if they tour. i duno

Maybe J does get tired of always getting asked to do guitar stuff. And playing guitar on the albums. I know I get tired of guitar, I love drums more.August 27, 2006 at 4:21 pm #119309j’s drum work on green mind is great, as well as all the other later stuff he did… especially "alone"
August 27, 2006 at 7:29 pm #119310I know J has a pretty nice set of DW Drums at home just to record with, I’m not sure what he plays with on the road.
August 29, 2006 at 10:07 am #119311i think its cool how he can play both.i also play guitar and drums but i love guitar way more theres so much more i can do on a guitar.
