This is a copy of my review posted elsewhere on the web. This is my first post to the new site. It has been a couple of years since I have visited freakscene.net but the show tonight completely reignited my love for all that is J.
I can hear the ring of joy… and that’s about it. For those of you who
did not heed my call to Athens, J. Mascis and the Fog rocked! They
started off with The Lung from You’re Living All Over Me and played tons
of other shit which I forget. They finished up with the Wagon. Other
songs played include Thumb, Freak Scene, Out There, Get me, Freedom and more. The show was much much better than their last show in Athens. Sadly, I
can only offer a bootleg of the last show to indicate the magnitude of
what you may have missed. At the end of the show, I busted ass to an ATM to return and purchase Free So Free and a tshirt. I talked to George and he agreed that this show was much much better than the last time they played in Athens.February 12, 2003 at 7:53 am #91403hEY jwallace

February 12, 2003 at 8:39 am #91405hey jwallace,
i "hear" ya about that one. is that ring of joy supposed to last three days? or did i do permanent damage sun night in albany? saw a great band last night called ""rock n Roll sherpa" which added another level of ring to the pre-existing one. i completely adore those bands who can produce a wall of sound……i’m sure that will not be the case when i visit an otolaryngologist (yeah, it’s a new word for me too). Nice to see reviews of the ones i can’t attend…KEEP EM COMIN!!! -jimiFebruary 12, 2003 at 8:44 am #91406Rock N Roll Sherpa is the SHIT. If you’re ever in the Burlington, VT area, be sure to check these dudes out.
February 12, 2003 at 10:09 am #91407I second that – amazing show. Had never seen Dino or J. before and was completely impressed! Great, great, enthusiastic crowd. J. and Co. set and and broke down their own gear. Old school, indeed.
Ears, of course, still buzzing and ringing on.
Does anyone know why there was no Atlanta date? I meant to ask but hit the road right after I picked up the new cd and a shirt.
x
