Just wanted mention that mark and john backed J on If that’s how it’s gotta be while he was playing the acoustic guitar. I don’t think anyone mentioned that (it was just the end of the song though).
October 14, 2002 at 11:21 am #62905I must agree with squeapler. The Philly show was definately a great show. I was looking forward to a little more electric but he was being shocked and we don’t want J hurt. All the new songs sounded great even though he couldn’t remember what key Tell the Truth was in. I hope he comes back around to Philly towards the end of the tour. Seemed like more people turned out for this show than the prior one.
October 14, 2002 at 1:32 pm #62906Just a few things to add….J seemed to be in a more upbeat/talkative mood than the last 2 times I saw him (in DC and Baltimore). He actually smiled, talked, and even joked a little bit with the crowd. Also, Cobra Verde came on stage for "That’s how it’s gotta be" (I’m assuming the above set list is correct…its track 2 off new album…starts off mellow then rocks out at the end). They just stood there while J worked through the acoustic part, then kicked it in when the rockin part came. I guess you could say they sat in w/ J for 1.5 songs. The "Ammaring" was definately the highlight of the night, thoough. Someone needs to post that song!

October 14, 2002 at 1:42 pm #62908Anthonyg, was that you in the corner next to the stairs with the junk clipped to your hat? I’m just hoping someone can get a copy of that show out there for all of us to enjoy. Friday’s show was so much better than the one I saw in March. Of course, I was in a much better spot this time…right next to the staircase, so I had a nice ledge to put my beer on. Of course, everyone else was always reaching in front of me to put their empty on there as well. I was very excited to see the guys from Cobra Verde setting up their instruments as J was getting ready…just KNEW it would rock…what a great moment when they busted out with J in That’s How it’s Gotta Be….and don’t even get me started on the Ammaring solo! I hope everyone else had a great time there as well.
My friend drove us down in his car, and we managed to get a great parking spot right on 27th. I guess he parked a few spots farther up than he thought, and you should’ve seen his face when his car wasn’t sitting where he thought it would be! Apparently I told him too much about my last experience in that neighborhood…October 14, 2002 at 3:27 pm #62909ohsoloco-
I saw a few people recording the show on friday so hopefully we will hear some good stuff. And hopefully at least one of them will post Ammaring for us. As far as your location. It is definately the best in the place. That’s where I was in March, but could not get there this time around. I was a little bummed by that.October 15, 2002 at 10:14 am #62910Thanks for the reviews everybody <img>
