How do you like your JM Jazzy Tom?

          Telegram,
I love the guitar. It is so much better then the made in Japan Jazzmaster I bought about 10 years ago. The bridge is a big improvement, and the pick ups are way better then the mij ones. The tremelo is sort of tight, compared to my other one. It looks a lot better in person too. More of a deep purple in color.

If you have any questions about the guitar, just ask.

          Take care,
          Tom

New to the Freak Scene, but wanted to weigh-in with Tom that this guitar is really a steal in respect to its construction, electronics, and appearance. Though this model has been pretty soundly slagged on other "offset" guitar forums for everything from its materials to its guts to the guys likely to buy such a beast, I suspect even JM purists would be impressed with the ballsy pickups on this bar-b-que stick. The fat frets, also, are really fast. The lead/rhythm output switch provides some intriguing sonic variation as well. Straight to the amp (an old, cat piss-stained Champ combo), this guitar sounds like a monster, and through the dirty channel, it just seems to come alive. The sound texture and volume from these pickups easily blows away my old FrankenStrat loaded with Hot Rails and all that shiz. And for the record, I went with the brown tolex case, because I do possess a stripe of Fender puritan, and this guitar looks sweet lounging in that golden plush!

Anyway, hopefully these unsolicited remarks do not offend. Peace, all.

Thanks for the info guys.I am seriously thinking about getting the JM Jazzy.I think the Purple Sparkle would look good next to my yellow Metallic LP(the one J is playing in my avatar)Right now I am selling my Mustang and if I sell my strat too I will have enough for the Jazzy and a case.

Too true. It was kind of puzzling. Anyone have any idea why this decision was made? If it was economics, then it seems doubly odd considering most retailers who ship instruments won’t do so without a case. Clear as mud.

                      money, as usual.

for selling the cases at around a hundred dollars seperately, they can ‘lower’ the price of the guitar to some degree. then sell you a generic case of shitty music store-brand ‘gig bag’.

one of the big chains, not protecting anyone just forget, got in deep shit with rickenbacker over this very issue. new ricks come with cases, end of story, and they weren’t complying. i know that rickenbacker’s owner fuckin hates guitar center, for various reasons, and he had no problem banning the store from carrying his stuff (or even copies of his stuff).

the big stores aren’t even a necessary evil any more, they’re just evil. i feel bad for the people that work there, bad for anyone whose ever bought more than a cord or some picks at one. those stores absolutely sicken me, and have from an early age.

real quick. I love guitar center. because they placed the order form Rickenbacker for the 58 325 Reissues. They were one of the first big chains to get them and after the beatle frekas bought them, they sat on them. And I got mine for $900 w/case. They listed for $3100.
Rick dealers had 18 moth waits. They were not happy.

I am in the process of getting a J Jazzy. Gotta finalize the deal. We’re still talkin’ case.

First impressions. The one I’m picking up is well made. Tight neck pocket. Set up great. The Pu’s sound like my Japanese ’66 RI. which is very close to the real 66 I’ have. The bigger frets make it more gibson-y. The bridge is the best leap forward in Jazzy tech. I hope it will be available as an accessory. I wailed on this thing thru a ’69 super lead for few minutes at closing time. It seemed to stay in tune well. it gets the sound. The bridge!!! Dammit the bridge!!!! I report later when I pick it up…..

well….i broke down and bought it. well…i actually ordered 2 of them. wheeled 2 cases out of the deal as well. woo hoo. sorry…i’m a guitar whore.

one will likely jsut hang on the wall as an art piece and i’ll hack the other one until my fingers bleed.
