So is everyone paying around $750 for this guitar? I’m thinking about ordering one….but thats a lot of money to pay for something Im going to treat like my Mustang……sitting in three feet of dust in the back of the guitar pile…never getting played.

I paid $849 for mine with tax it was a little over $900. I was going to order one online but when I saw it in the shop and played it I had to have it.

I played it some last night. It really is a nice guitar for being Japanese. The pickups sound great and aren’t at all like the other Japanese Jazzmaster pickups. I really like the jumbo frets too. Its the first guitar I have with them and for me it seems easier to play. The nitro finish on the neck rules too.

It’s gonna be my main axe now.

I’m at work now, maybe I’ll take some this weekend. Maybe this would be a good new thread, pics of freaksceneres with their J Mascis Jazzmasters.

Huh, I didn’t realize that the switch control was different than the traditinal Jazzmaster switch, I’m going to have to play with it now. From the Fender site:

"The Dinosaur roar comes from dual vintage reissue pickups and the barrage of controls the Jazzmaster has always been known for—a three-position toggle switch with volume and tone knobs and, for this model, [glow=red,2,300]a two-position slide switch with volume and tone controls configured as a “lead tone circuitâ€

You know last night I was playing with the lead tone circuit and it realy works that way. With the toggle switch I can set my rhythm playing tone (usually with the bridge pick up) and when I want to solo I can flip the switch up to get a really creamy boosted tone. It totally works. In a lot of cases it really seemed like it would take the place of my linear power booster to give the lead a more saturated tone. Its really pretty cool, and now I’m even way more stoked on it than before.

So how do the oversized Frets play?

I really like them. I didn’t know how they would play but I really do like them. For me it seems easier to play than with the regular sized frets. Its seems like the neck is faster because of them.

Hmm, so, the rythm circuit switch is reversed? strange, J has the switch blocked, why would he want it like this on this signature….
