For an every-night, several-weeks-at-a-time deal, $110 sounds like a bargain.

…but, yeah, I definitely recommend earplugs for a "Fog" show… and I don’t normally wear earplugs…
March 6, 2003 at 4:01 pm #91561i went to see j in cleveland at the grog shop in october (’02) when he played with the guys from cobra verde and didnt find it that loud. i sat on the monitor up front and didnt have any ear plugs…maybe i was just in awe of j’s greatness
March 7, 2003 at 7:32 am #91562There’s a review of one of his US shows here:
http://www.noripcord.co.uk/reviews/M/jmascislive.html”>http://www.noripcord.co.uk/reviews/M/jmascislive.htmlHe’s always been very loud when i’ve seen him – i find moving into the centre of venue always helps
March 9, 2003 at 10:30 pm #91563I saw J at the Middle East in Cambridge when he was touring with Watt in support of More Light. I wore earplugs, and am very thankful I did as they were extremely loud. I even noticed that J had earplugs in his ears which I had never noticed. Ian
March 15, 2003 at 7:55 pm #91564i saw j and the fog at the cats cradle way back in febuary, and i made the mistake of thinking he was getting around that age to stop playing loud.. but i was very
wrong, and i had to leave after "Little Fury THings" which was only like the fith or so song… it was still amazing, even though i couldnt hear J’s singing until i stood outside the club for the rest of the show. definatley wear earplugs to his show or anyshow… if you cant hear, you cant live
March 16, 2003 at 5:35 am #91565hey monkeysnail,
now, that’s a drag that you had to leave the show because of the volume
anyway, welcome here!
but yeah, seriously, it’s not at all wimpy, but only sensible to wear earplugs at a Fog show (not so much at J’s solo acoustic shows, but definitely the electric Fog shows), as the band wears earplugs, too – thanks for clearing that up, johnbonhamisgod!
March 28, 2003 at 4:03 pm #91566… just in case of need: I just fell over this bargain

February 20, 2004 at 2:11 pm #91569I rember stories where J would wear earplugs and lou and murph didn’t and he would just balst the guitar and they would be deaf.
February 20, 2004 at 4:42 pm #91570that’s quite evil by J. he really should advice them to take better care of their health
January 9, 2006 at 1:36 am #91571Yo! Those old stories are all pure bullshit. If Murph or Lou wanted to wear earplugs they could have simply dragged themselves down to the local pharmacy and bought some. I mean, we’re talking about adults here, albeit young adults. That’s akin to one passenger in a vehicle who personally decided on not wearing his or her seat belt and subsequently becoming injured in an accident, blaming a fellow passenger in the same vehicle for personally deciding to wear his or her seat belt, thus not being seriously injured. Whatever happened to individual responsibility? I say wear the plugs, but don’t blame anyone if you choose not to. Everyone knows J’s reputation. Act accordingly.

January 9, 2006 at 4:11 pm #91572I hear that George

Last night I went to see Anthrax and all I can say is thank god I remembered the earplugs…that shit was loud.
I thought I’d definately need them for the Dino show at Irving Plaza but we ended up on the balcony next to the soundboard and I didn’t use them. I guess we found the sweet spot
