NRBQ will be the subject of a tribute album, "The Q People," to be released March 9 on Spirithouse Records. It will be the first release from the Boston-based independent label. Artists on "The Q People" album include Bonnie Raitt, R.E.M. guitarist Mike Mills, Los Lobos, Widespread Panic, J Mascis (Dinosaur Jr)and Steve Earle.
The cast of Nickelodeon cartoon series "SpongeBob SquarePants" also weighs in with the song "Little Floater’s Wild Weekend." Tom Kenny, the voice of show’s title character, was once an NRBQ opening act as a standup comedian.
"As legions of loyal Q fans can tell you, NRBQ is one of the most under-appreciated bands in the world… always stretching, always grooving, never boring," says Raitt in a statement. She covers "Me and the Boys" for the tribute.
Los Lobos, which takes on "Never Take the Place of You," adds, "As fellow members of the three-decade club, we know how hard it is to simply carry on making quality music, so for us it is an honor and pleasure to be part of this project."
A launch event for the album will be held March 8 in Los Angeles; artists attending have not yet been announced.

Salami -this is the point where you jump in with some information about how they changed the Czechoslovakian music scene with their debut album released on the japanese label Mellow Kitty Destruction Scene or something like that
I have to admit I have`nt listened to NRBQ that much but first heard of them about 15 years ago.They did the soundtrack to the Chuck Berry movie I think
the lead guy is married to `60s country singer Skeeter Davis who must be like 20 years or more older than him 
guitarist Al Anderson is a Nashville studio guy now playing with all your fave pop country acts 
keyboardist Terry Adams knows his jazz piano(actually NRBQ appeared on a Thelonious Monk tribute once).I saw them on Nightmusic in 1990,they performed Wild Weekend that the Spongebob cast is going to cover 
(Spongebob is a recent obsession of mine

, got a couple of their songs on a couple of compilations, but I must say, can’t remember any one of them….

NRBQ-formed in 1967
(if he was 18 when they formed the band,he was born in 1949;that`s 18 years between them)A certain Ray Mason plays bass, guitar and does backing vocals on "I want you bad", and he does a good job…..
