NYC seems to be the favorite right now, hopefully in Manhatten, or outside NYC in Hoboken, something really easily accesible to everyone.
I would really love a festival at Liberty State Park, in Jersey City to go with the whole freedom thing, plus its really easy to get to, RadioHead did a awesome show there once, but the only thing that worry’s me is I dont think they allow alcoholic bevarages
August 22, 2004 at 6:42 pm #104457Yes, I agree, NYC seems to be the best bet. We were only talking about other locations to eat cookies and drink tea in. I can’ t believe y’all are not into camping. Wow, the fire, the wine, the guitar, the songs, The fluffy sleeping bags, the best friends husband
, the laughter, I mean the best friends and there husbands. We love camping down south. I like to camp in a nice hotel room from time to time myself.
We have a group of friends here that go camping together. I am an expert at campfire cooking and our buddy Kevin is the master of coffee in the morning. Onto other things. I was just this weekend informed about a wedding in State College,Pa that we must attend on the 21st of May. My birthday is the next weekend. My only request at the moment is that we can get together during the day and not only at night. Who knows if I will have the time or money to come but I am sure I could swing it.August 23, 2004 at 5:53 am #104458did j’s management get back to you ?
August 23, 2004 at 9:53 am #104459yeah and i agreed to keep everything confidential, So ill let you guys know when im allowed to, I dont want to mess anything up.
August 23, 2004 at 11:27 am #104460great news …
August 23, 2004 at 1:43 pm #104461I Think this sounds great. I know I don’t post but I do have some concerns
about who else plays the festival. Mostly bigger names…for instance right now Modest Mouse…if they get put on the bill people will get tickets to see them and some J fans could be left in the cold. Yeah I know some things are about making money…or at least getting reimbursed but my ideal is somewhat of intimate couple of days with Mascis fans and j; perhaps he could pick the line up…. maybe a Pre 40th birthday present from his fans (right? 40 in 2005?). The next thing was someone mentioned Dando….The guy has been a big fckn’ baby the last couple times he’s come to chicago I’ve seen him 4 times in the last year and he has progressively given up…he definately needs a band behind him.August 23, 2004 at 2:21 pm #104462right … i hadn’t thought about the implications of including other bands … it definitely is something to consider … i suppose 1st + foremost whoever is organizing this thing (rich ?) should come up with a statement of what it should be + work to that as a plan … like you’re suggesting, "a festival for j-heads/freaks whatever to get together + celebrate our love of all things j" … or something like that, but obviously a little more in depth than that … oh yeah, + a pre-40th b-day present …
August 23, 2004 at 3:05 pm #104463I’m also for NYC or a place nearby, because I could stay with my sister in Brooklyn

and I also think it should be an event about/with J in the first place

…so for example, personally, I’d appreciate it a lot if the one or other SY member showed up to play with J or whatever, but if the freakfest would be combined with a full SY show, it would be something completely different… just a theought
August 23, 2004 at 3:59 pm #104464Right on with the J fans only type thing nothing is set is set in stone but heres some good news from Bart, so keep the suggestions comming
____________
I scoped the link… it’s probably going to shake down like this, we are going to plan something, Something, I don’t know if it’ll be a blow out MEGA deal or something scaled back and intimate… but we want to do some sort of J centered deal for charity, we would probably reach out to the core fans like you and the rest of the folks on freakscene for help organizing and promoting. we’d do something special for you guys – I think we could figure something out that would be fun for you guys.
August 24, 2004 at 11:10 am #104465I think a certain tall guy mentioned a webcast deal, think that would be a very cool thing for people who couldn’t make the show. Not to mention extra cash for J’s chosen charity if people are charged to access the webcast of whatever kind of show happens.
Love the idea of FreakScene.net merch, hopefully we can work on that sometime soon!
looking forward to some details…
August 24, 2004 at 1:11 pm #104466yooohoooo !! hey rich, that is seriously good news ! i can’t wait …
August 24, 2004 at 1:45 pm #104467oh yeah, forgot to mention … my only other thought on this deal (so far
) is that it could have something to do w/skaters as well … like i think allison mentioned j-related movies could be shown, but what about showing some j-related skater videos as well
… none of which i’ve ever seen … so that would be cool … plus a lot of skater types seem to like j + he has neil blender as his main (recent) cover artist + also he has links w/some other skater types as well, doesn’t he ? like who was that guy who made that listen to dinosaur jr t-shirt ? + also alien workshop … well, it’s just a random thought … something to keep in mind for the planners that be …
August 24, 2004 at 1:57 pm #104468also good idea for sponsor’s, I dont know whats going on too much really at the moment, just as much as everyone else does(and I dont know how much more of roll im going to play in the future of this), and Like is aid before I need to keep everything confidential from this point on. BUt really good news
August 25, 2004 at 12:15 pm #104469Good Gosh, No Modest Mouse, this is a J fest, someone else can organize that one!!!! The Charity idea is really cool. Although today I feel I need some charity but thats a whole other topic.
Oh I wanted to post again Mercury is in Retrograde so, it is important that any plans on this event do sort of come to a stop until September 3rd, when mercury goes direct, because it will never gel correctly. Of, course if you don’t believe in astrology than just ignore this post.

Hey perhaps Modest Mouse could play a few songs along with Dave Matthews and Jessica Simpson….. Oh, yeah, now I feel a line up happening.
August 25, 2004 at 2:07 pm #104470I have the ALien Workshop and Blind videos, with DIno songs on them.
