I am so glad everyone had a good time and then came back here to tell about it.

but I am still laughing about J’s age.

He is not only 38 but 38 and 1/2, oh my!

I was the girl close to da front screaming, "J is God" during his set..

This double bill is a combo that I find extremely exciting… Two of the first bands I ever fell in love with – Dinosaur Jnr n Sonic Youth…

J did not lack anything playing without a backing band… He rocked my heart more than many good 4 n 5 piece bands ever could…
That divine guitar mmmm… The way J sings, the sound of his voice… u can’t help but believe everything he says : )

The Highlight of the night for me was the "GET ME"… straight after his first track, my friend yelled out for it quite a few times… We were pretty close up the front… I don’t know if it was planned or if he heard but I took a big toke n floated away to heaven….. That song moves me every time I hear it

            THANK YOU J

I would have paid 3 times as much for that ticket : )

            J MASCIS… UR GOD…

            n if J is GOD… then

Thurston Moore n Kim make the trinity

The highlight of their set for me… Oh god this is sooo hard…

Drunken Butterfly… Kim dazzled me with the way she exuded rock n roll…n her beauty (have u seen those legs?)… her voice was raw n enerergized n her instrument sent chills of ecstacy mixed with familiarity through my veins…

I waited so long for that night 2 arrive… It was perfect : )

BUT WHAT AM I GOING TO LIVE FOR NOW?

Maybe The Pixies n Cure will make it DOWN UNDER REALLY SOON

i saw j at the fremantle show, it was amazing, moving even. and the crowd was interesting – being my first night out since becoming a mum 3 years ago i was worried about feeling old but the crowd spanned many age groups and all seemed very appreciative of the music. thankyou thankyou what a line up, i am still buzzing from such a great night.

purple fungus. it’s stretching my memory back but i think the last tune j played at the enmore theatre show was either "quest" from the dinosaur jr "quest" album (hard to find) or "alone" from the dinosaur jr "hand it over" album.

sorry for the late reply but i’ve been off-line a while.

i stayed up and watched rage on saturday night, guest programmed by sonic youth. it was one of those nights where every clip was a killer. j scored two clips – one as dinosaur jr with "the wagon" and the as j + the fog with "everybody gets me down". other artists included the butthole surfers, built to spill, iggy pop, pj harvey, the jam, gumball, the folk implosion, pavement, the breeders, devo….the list goes on.

i’m off to see jeff lang at the sydney opera house on saturday night. for anyone that wants to see a local artist with guitar talents up there with j, check him out (jefflang.com.au).

                          catch y’all later. kimba

‘rage’ is a long-running (about 20 yrs i think) music clip show on the australian public broadcasting network (similar to bbc) that runs from midnight on friday and saturday nights to about 8am the following morning. see this link here – http://www.abc.net.au/rage/rage.htm”>http://www.abc.net.au/rage/rage.htm. the top 50 is always the last part of the show which is pretty sappy at the best of times (e.g. eminem, britney, human nature). but in the early hours of friday morning up till about 5am, it’s an array of pot luck clips and on saturday nights, there’s guest programmers, usually a band touring the country, and they give a general intro to start a batch of about 5 songs. sometimes there’s ‘specials’ – such as the big day out. recent programmers include anthrax and metallica. if you go to the above link, you can see the playlists of guest programmers for the past 6 years (incl. sonic youth’s the other night).

if you get your fave bands programming, it’s a killer and worth the late night on the couch.

wow ! that playlist is fantastic … you’re lucky to have seen all those great videos … plus, it looks like after sonic youth picked their fave videos, they station played the whole sonic youth back catalogue as well  8) 8)
