Yep, that was a great show except for the redneck bullshit. They really pulled it together after that and worked it hard. I was surprised to hear "Lightning Bulb", so that was a nice surprise.
The show was loud, but not as loud as I’ve witnessed before. I didn’t need earplugs and it wasn’t painful! I wasn’t too crazy about the club itself, but it wasn’t so bad that I couldn’t enjoy things. I saw Dino in Jax at Einstein’s in 1988 or 1989 (Bug tour, memory cloudy!) and there was none of the violent hi-jinks going on. Musically, I felt this show was tight and I believe Murph worked his ass off. The sweat was just pouring off of his dome! Barlow looked spent at the end. Again, just awesome and it was cool to hear some new stuff. I got there a little late because of a horrible car accident backing up traffic on the highway, so I only caught about half of Awesome Color’s set. At first I thought they were really kind of boring, but then I got into the repetition of what they were doing and thought it was pretty cool.
