Question about the Dec 13 John Peel Session-does anyone know if you can get in to watch these?
I live literally two blocks from the BBC Radio 1 Maida Vale Studio (Delaware Rd) where the John Peel sessions are recorded. I will take a walk over there this week to ask, but until then does anyone have any clue on this one.
Unfortunately I will be outa the country on the 13th, as I was during the Sept. gig in Camden Town – AGGGHHHH!
I’ll catch J in Dublin on the 9th and the 10th show in London- but bummer to have those guys w/in earshot and not be able to go.
Well if anyone has the answer maybe someone can get over there.
The studio is huge – they may have a little area to watch?????

        good point Tim

I was wandering whether the 13th was broadcast date or when they were recording. If it’s when they are recording is it possible that the session will be broadcast on the same day?

From what I’ve heard of Peel sessions in the past they’re usually pre-recorded.

I’ll see if I can see anything on the bbc site about it.

          Weird!

I too live within a minute’s walk of Maida Vale studios, but alas, I too believe that the Peel sessions are pre-recorded and would hazard a guess that they have already taken place.

See you on the 10th though! Does anyone know who the support are. Being that it is a "karrang" event, I am not too optimistic – I am sure it will be someone like "septic filth" or "I killed my mama" or such like.

          See you at the bar!

Javro – Queen Adreena are supporting at the Astoria. I think the singer used to be in Daisy Chainsaw if you rememeber them ("Love Your Money"). Should be okay.

            RE: Peel session
In the band’s schedule it has the 13th as Peel session date so I am a little confused as to the whole live vs pre-recorded debate. Still haven’t looked at BBC site – I’ll do that now.

OK – I finally looked at the BBC site and although there is no info on J’s gig they do appear to archive their session stuff so we should be able to check out the tunes at a later date.

There is a Low live session here of about 45 mins so hopefully that’s what the fog are gonna do.

              Keep checking here http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/djs/peel.shtml

Hey – I just got this reply from the producer of the Peel show

"sorry Joel it’s not being broadcast live …it’s a straightforward recording
so we don’t invite an audience
If we can persuade him to do something live in the future we’ll let you know"

                  Joel,
Good work – oh well. I thought it would have been recorded during the day on Monday or Tuesday and quite possibly infiltrated during the taping. I stopped into the studio on my way home for work. Nobody knew too much about it. I was told that radio stations sometimes have spots to view the taping. By the way low security for future reference.

                  Javro,
We might possibly be neighbors I live on Lauderdale Road.

                    Jesus!

Of all the chatrooms in all the world….

I live on Grantully Road. Let’s drink beer!

Daisy Chainsaw eh? Blast from the past. I think I fancied her. It was one of those songs where you sing along without an iota of an idea of the words that you were singing. " We love your songs, the way you??????? so sincerely, we love your songs and we mean it really" or summat like that.

                      Javro,
What’s your local? Warrington or Lord Elgin?
                      The Warrington is a stones throw. Ben’s Thai kicks – # 51!!!
                      I’m up for a pint.

Both are close but the Elgin has it by a yard. Don’t much like it though.

The Thai place is great (is that the one opposite Maida Vale station?)

We have only just moved there from Bayswater, so I don’t really know many other places (except for the tennis courts – £8.60 for a game of tennis?? Welcome to Maida Vale!)

We should hook up before the gig on Sunday and "prepare". Speak soon.

                          Javro,
Quite frankly the Lord Elgin is a dump. SEW9 is the restaurant across from the tube which I think is pretty good.
I go to the Warrington right down from the tube station on Randolph. Ben’s Thai is above the pub and is awesome! The Warrington is a great pub – during the summer it’s my favorite place on a Friday afternoon…outdoor setup!

I just told my wife the whole weekend plan. I talked her into a trip to Dublin – only recently did I tell her the part about seeing J on Sat. night. I hope she comes with me on Sun. The last time I brought her to a show, Built to Spill and Flaming Lips, she walked out. A little bit loud for her taste. I’ve been breaking her in with a select batch of Dino/J tunes.
About Sun.that would be cool. We can down a few and head over to the show.
                          Tim

                            Hi Tim

Yeah Sunday it is – when and where? Your pub sounds cool, say about 4ish?

Hope you enjoy Saturday – is that a Karrang event too? Karrang – Jesus. I’ll have to wear my "Alice in CHains" or "Cradle of Filth" shirts to blend in.

I don’t really own Alice in Chains or Cradle of Filth shirts.

DON’T TAKE THIS PISS OUT OF ALICE IN CHAINS
THEY ARE A GOOD BAND WHO WRITE GOOD SONGS
I’M SORRY TO MOAN WHEN IT’S YOUR OPINION
BUT I CAN’T JUST SIT BACK AND SAY NOTHING
LAYNE STALEY AND JERRY CANTRELL ARE GREAT VOCALISTS
THEY ARE LIKE NO OTHER BAND: IN BETWEEN THE GRUNGE SOUND AND GRINDING METAL NOISE.
                              SO LEAVE THEM ALONE.

                              What about cradle of filth?

                              Well they are just silly….

Yes, 4ish is good — lets say the Warrington.
I’ll be w/ my wife, we’ll be to the left as you enter, in that small area. A blond and a brown head couple. Is that good enough?
I’ll have my Alice and chains shirt on and my wife will have her Peal Jam shirt on.
                                Sarcasm, yuk,yuk!

                                  Hey Kids!

I wouldn’t dream of insulting anyone’s personal music tastes, especially as I have Dexy’s midnight Runners, Deacon Blue and Then Jericho albums at home. I thought Jar of Flies was a cool album, alls I’m saying is that A I Chains fans are fairly "rocking".

Advance apologies to all Dexy’s, Deacon Blue and Jericho fans.

Tim, 4 sounds great – I’ll be with my housemate (my girlfriend got me the tickets but she’s in Asia at the moment), I have absolutely no hair and he has dark hair.

I’ll be wearing a cradle of filth shirt…

the motif reads "Jesus is a C***"

Advance apologies to all Jesus fans.

                                  And I don’t have a cradle shirt.
