Just a rumor but a pretty pleasing one, rumor is Mr J Mascis
is getting a custom built Wosrite guitar in OZ. Wicked guitar, Nicke Royale from the Hellacopters has more than a few, copies of the Mosrite line of guitars. Fred Sonic Smith from Sonics Rendezvous Band & The MC5 played a Mosrite :aliensmile:Gotta love that the guys site is dedicated to The Ramones. If you go to the news page you can link to a part of the site with Nicke Hellacopters collection of guitars
No mention of J on the site, just the rumor below, doubt J would go for the humbuckers…
Here at screamfeeder HQ we would like to introduce (to those of you who don’t already know) TYM GUITARS. Tim Brennan is the man behind the moniker and he specialises in making top quality custom handmade guitars, pedals, and amps, as well as repairs and set ups. He built Kellie’s beautiful Wosrite (Mosrite copy) bass and her amazing distortion/D.I. pedal the K Series Triple Tone. Tim is currently working on a Wosrite guitar for none other than Mr J MASCIS.
His stuff ROCKS.
Find Tim at 33 Fern st, Woolloongabba, Brisbane. Go check out their website here.May 14, 2003 at 2:40 pm #93571thanks for for the info
I have been wondering what guitar the singer/guitarist in Hellacopters was using. Personally I don’t like the form of the guitar, but I’m not gonna tell about my opinions. Hmm..from my point of view it will be interesting seing J playing the Tym guitar. (if he’ll ever use it live)
May 15, 2003 at 12:18 pm #93572Not sure if it’s electric or acoustic J’s getting built for him, hopefully insurance is footing the bill…replacement for lost gear

Gotta love the Johnny Ramone guitar…
Hoping we get to see J’s new guitar sometime soon
May 15, 2003 at 4:25 pm #93573They should make a Fender J. Mascis Jazzmaster maybe with an esquire neck and a gibson tune o matic bridge in purple with matching headstock.
May 25, 2003 at 12:59 pm #93574Here’s a link to pics of J’s new Sparkly Purple Guitar
The latest guitar from Tym guitars was custom made for guitar legend J Mascis (Dinosaur Jr, Fog) It is a Versatone deluxe with all the standard fittings. The colour didn’t come out quite right in the pics. This is a VERY purple sparkle finish. The guitar has a basswood body and maple neck. It is fitted with Tym single coil pick ups and the Moseley style trem tailpiece.
J recently toured Australia and came in to pick up his guitar and talk amps, pedals and guitars with us. I think we will be working on things together in the future. You can catch J playing his Wosrite live with his "other" band Cobra Verde.
Hopefully some of you saw this recently, when he played with his other band Cobra Verde
…let us know how it sounds
I like the little bit on how he thinks they’ll be working on things together in the future…could he be talking custom pedals, amps…or more guitars
June 4, 2003 at 8:13 am #93575I have a 1970 japanese-made Mosrite Combo (hollowbody) and this guitar just FEELS right. Mosrite are fantstic….
June 7, 2003 at 7:11 pm #93576You know…..thats a friggin nice looking geetar. Id like one of my own…or a few. I also really really like my Univox Hi-flier too though. I want to build one of these things I think, it would be cheaper that way too. Blah blah..no real information here. Just some random thoughts.
June 12, 2003 at 10:56 pm #93577I was telling someone on the boards here about an Aussie band called Tumbleweed. Well worth checking out. They use Mosrites through big muffs and marshall stacks. Raw and ballsy. Check them out on Kazaa for songs called "Lavabread’, "Sundial", or "Daddy Longlegs".
Or visit http://www.weedfreaks.com
Do yrself a favor and do it now.
February 4, 2004 at 3:15 pm #93578They now have a pic of J on the site picking up his new sparkly purple guitar, wearing a very cool purple CBGB’s Tshirt
J picks up his new Purple Sparkle Wosrite in Oz

J’s testimonial…
J Mascis.
"Thanks for making me the Wosrite guitar in my favorite color , purple sparkle. I like it much better than the Mosrite Ventures model I have. It feels more solid and is more fun to play. It provides me with hours of rock n roll inspiration and visual stimulation. Thanks again J"February 4, 2004 at 7:23 pm #93579February 5, 2004 at 5:23 am #93580Cool! That looks really nice. Does anyone know how much one of those guitars cost? Or is it only specialmade for J?
By the way, my friends dad has made a guitar for Roger Daltrey and a couple of other heroes!

February 15, 2004 at 7:04 pm #93582Yeah, ive always been kinda bummed that he gave the sticker one to the R’n’R hall of fame… it’s like, fuck, at least wait till you cant play it anymore! So much fuzz left to be fuzzed!

That is a cool looking guitar, though, hope it does him well!
