      J’s fav power pop songs… 8)

      I Don’t Mind-Buzzcocks

      First Time-Boys

Why? It works for me & I don’t really know what to elaborate on. I just dig

You can find the whole list here…Power Pop Songs

You just scroll down a bit, quite a few interesting choices :!: It’s originally from monstermagazine, but they had it laid out so nice on the above site :? Mike Johnson picks a Cheap Trick song

Ooooh, I’m a sucker for lists like this one, thanks for the link! It’s also pretty odd that J’s choice is listed directly below that of The Minders’ Martin Leapers, who picked "The Freed Pig" as his favorite… Steve Albini’s rants also are always worth checking out, he sounds like such a misanthrope! But one thing made me wonder: how come no one listed "Freak Scene" as his or her favorite POWER POP song? That’s so fucked I can’t believe it, hehe.

I dug that list much. It reminded me of so many songs I used to blast. Power pop works as a genre becasue it is an aliteration, and all apparently approve of aliterations.

          Power Pop.

There are so many ways to describe music to people.

I try to turn kids on to new bands I like but they get scared by the words indie rock or garage rock; and worst of all alternative country. I listen to everything under the sun, but labeling it for the masses will always boggle my mind.

rock and roll (different speeds, different moods)
          jazz
          hip-hop

          basics, and not that basic.

My favorite Power Pop song, with gun to head, would have to be the next J song I listen to; past, present, and perfect

Strange that nobody mentioned Jonathan Richman & the Modern Lovers "Roadrunner", maybe the closest that mankind has ever been to "The Perfect (Power) Pop Song" 8)

            Cool list, otherwise :!:
