Working here at the bookshop can be really boring but occasionally someone interesting wanders in. Today it was this grey-haired hippy looking dude. He got to the counter and I finally saw his face. Well as I live and breathe, it’s J Mascis. He wasn’t very effusive but definitely friendlier than I thought he’d be. Very, very mellow cat.

Me: Oh, no kidding, you’re J. How are you?
      J: Oh, good.

      Me: I like Witch.
J: Thanks. Do you have magazines?
Me: Right up there along the wall on the right.
      J: Thank you.

And just to rob the man of ALL his privacy, here are his purchases:

-"Kink: The Autobiography of Dave Davies"
      -"Into the Void w/Ace Frehley"
      -Guided By Voices biography
      -CD: "Jimi Hendrix Plays Berkeley"

Awesome, I have never heard mention of J listening to Jimi Hendrix. I am sure he has as everyone on earth has heard jimi but it is cool to see he bought it.

J said in an interview once that Hendrix was the only person to play the guitar the right way.Other than that he does`nt talk much about Jimi.
I saw that GBV book last Xmas.It looks like a good read.

I absolutely agree. As good as J Mascis is at playing guitar, no one in history will ever reach the same echilon as Jimi Hendrix. The man was the one and only Guitar God.

Gotta love GBV, though. One of my personal favorite bands, probably up there with Dino even! Alien Lanes and Bee Thousand are just amazing and if you don’t have them, run out and pick ’em up.

Hell yeah. They are one awesome band. One of the best rock bands to ever come from Canada.

I’m almost 100% sure they’re from Dayton, Ohio.
